Still keeping the spirit of the famous literary work “The Adventures of Men the Cricket” by writer To Hoai, the film “Cricket: Adventure to the Swamp” has been breathed into a modern atmosphere by the creative team to suit the tastes of today’s audience, especially the younger generation.

Instead of just adventuring through grasslands or jungles, Cricket Men and Cricket Trui now set foot in a “Swampy Hamlet” – an area that used to be a lush green field, now turned into a garbage dump. Here, they meet many new species of insects such as Whiskers, Cockroaches, Baby Ladybugs, and King Ech Com – the self-proclaimed “boss” of the hamlet. The two Cricket brothers must face many challenges, fierce battles from the dark plot of Ech Com to protect the peace of the insect community.

Each challenge that the characters overcome not only adds drama to the story, but also reflects lessons about courage, sharing, solidarity and a message about responsibility to protect nature and the environment.

As a 100% “made in Vietnam” film, “De Men: Adventure to the Swamp” surprised audiences with its use of modern 3D animation technology, with vivid character designs, eye-catching colors, and rich landscapes, making the film visually and technically appealing. With the participation of music “wizard” Masew, the film’s music is equally impressive, showcasing a smooth combination of modern music and folk sounds, creating a familiar yet fresh feeling.

In particular, it is necessary to mention the use of special effects, when the movements of the characters, from steps, eyes to fighting postures... are all smooth and expressive. The natural environment is also simulated extremely realistically, from the moist soil, small plants to the light through the dew drops are all shown in a delicate way.

The confrontation scenes between De Men and Mantis, or the martial arts tournament in Xom Lay Loi are performed with slow-motion effects, 360-degree movements and realistic collision effects, making viewers feel as if they are watching a real action movie. In the weather transition scenes, the lighting effects change continuously but smoothly, creating a lively feeling for the animated world.

Watching the film, viewers find it interesting that details such as images of Long Bien Bridge, Hanoi Flag Tower, Lenin Park, colorful clouds, tea hills, yellow star high, ao dai, ao yem, four-panel dress... have been skillfully exploited, creating a harmonious connection between modern technology and national identity.

In addition, the voice acting in the film is also an important plus point. The talented voice actors not only help the audience easily feel the personality and emotions of each insect character, but also help highlight the humane elements and messages in the film.

The film features the voice-over of professional voice-over artists (familiar voices in films such as Conan, Doraemon, etc.). There is also the participation of young artists such as Le Bong and ALi Thuc Phuong.

There are people who take on four voice roles at once, like actor Tran Hoang Son: playing the role of De Men in the northern accent, De Men in the southern accent, Nhai Mo, and Mantis Xi. There are extremely young voice actors like Ho Tien Dat playing an old and scheming character like Ech Com Dai Vuong. The character De Trui is extremely cheerful and humorous, but is portrayed by a rather serious person like actor Thai Van Minh Vu...

The participation of talented voice actors makes the film a plus point.

Participating in dubbing for the film, Le Bong said she felt extremely happy and grateful, because for her, this was not simply a dubbing role. She saw it as a journey back to beautiful memories.

“I put into each line all the emotions, memories, and lessons from my childhood – from the pages of books, the words of my teachers, and my childhood dreams. I want my voice to reach the audience, so that they can feel the sincerity and positive things that the character brings,” Le Bong shared.

CinePlus - the production unit of "De Men: Adventure to the Swamp" has nearly 10 years of experience in developing animated content, especially accompanying Vietnamese businesses to create products on digital platforms such as social media, digital content... However, this is the first time CinePlus has participated in a theatrical project.

With creative efforts and bold experiments, the production team hopes that the film project will be the first step in the strategy of building an international-class Vietnamese digital film studio, where historical stories and national culture are vividly recreated, creating a solid foundation for the country's film industry, while spreading Vietnamese cultural identity and inspiring the younger generation.

Mr. Nguyen Phuong Vu, son of the late writer To Hoai, shared that he was extremely happy and proud when the film was released.

"This is the passion of many people, and I am sure that the film will be successful. De Men has been associated with the subconscious of many generations, especially children. The release in the summer is the perfect time, hopefully the theaters will always be full of audiences, because the film is not only attractive and engaging but also brings great inspiration, especially to young audiences" - Mr. Nguyen Phuong Vu expressed.

The movie "De Men: Adventure to the Swamp" will officially be released nationwide from May 30, 2025.
