Effective coordination between functional forces in preventing smuggling in Quang Ninh

PLVN - On May 30, statistics from the first 5 months of 2025 showed that the functional forces of Quang Ninh province detected, arrested and handled 1,084 cases of smuggling, trade fraud (BLGLTM) and counterfeit goods, with a total value of infringing goods up to 12 billion VND. Of which, 48 subjects were criminally prosecuted in 30 cases, and 1,052 cases were administratively sanctioned.

In recent years, the functional forces of Quang Ninh including: Border Guard, Customs, Market Management, Police... have been promoting coordination, proactively implementing synchronous solutions, resolutely fighting against violations, protecting territorial sovereignty , the rights of people, businesses and a healthy business environment.

Not only taking drastic measures with professional measures, the forces also actively coordinated with local authorities to organize legal propaganda, mobilizing people in border areas, ship owners, wharf owners, and fishermen not to assist in smuggling. Hundreds of propaganda sessions and commitment signings were organized, contributing significantly to mobilizing people to participate in maintaining security and order in border areas.

According to the assessment of the authorities, the security and order situation at the border routes and sea areas of Quang Ninh province is basically guaranteed. However, due to the large area, many border gates, seaports, trails and openings, etc., the transportation of smuggled goods across the border still has the potential for complex and unpredictable developments.

The methods of smugglers are increasingly sophisticated, often taking advantage of the dark, bad weather, dividing goods into small pieces, using camouflaged means of transport. The items often smuggled are of high value and high profit such as: frozen food, poultry breeds, firecrackers, foreign wine, gasoline, etc.

In order to control the situation well, recently, closely following the assigned functions and tasks, the provincial functional forces such as Border Guard, Customs, Market Management, and Police have regularly coordinated to organize inter-sectoral inspections and controls, build special projects, and handle hot spots.

Thereby, many cases of illegal cross-border transportation of goods and smuggling have been promptly detected, arrested and successfully handled. To continue promoting the achieved results and more effectively deal with the situation of illegal cross-border transportation of goods, Quang Ninh authorities have proposed many key solutions such as: Strengthening the work of grasping and forecasting the situation, promptly detecting emerging lines, dangerous subjects, and cross-border organizations. Applying modern technology and equipment to promptly detect and promptly handle violations. Expanding cooperation and close coordination with inter-sectoral forces, forces of neighboring countries, and neighboring provinces, creating a continuous battle in preventing smuggling...

Representative of Customs Branch VIII, Mr. Kieu Van Ninh said: “The new context poses great challenges from the development of e-commerce and increasingly sophisticated tricks of the subjects. The authorities are making efforts to respond by clearly defining responsibilities, strengthening internal inspections and building specialized plans to deal with new types of crimes.”
