The report stated that immediately after the incident occurred, the Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee signed Official Dispatch No. 6359/UBND-CN directing relevant agencies and units to implement the contents of the incident of the national treasure "Nguyen Dynasty Throne" being violated.
The Provincial People's Committee has directed the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to urgently inspect, review and evaluate the work of ensuring security, the process of preserving and displaying artifacts, antiques,... especially national treasures at the Hue Monuments Conservation Center; develop detailed processes and plans for managing, preserving and displaying artifacts and antiques at the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.
Hue City People's Committee informs about the results of the implementation of remedial work on the case of the national treasure "Nguyen Dynasty Throne" being violated
Organize a review, draw lessons and handle the responsibilities of individuals and organizations involved in the incident of vandalism of national treasures displayed at Thai Hoa Palace that occurred on May 24, 2025;
Strengthening the management and protection of security and safety at relic sites and national relics, antiquities and treasures under the management authority of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center; proactively developing plans to prevent, detect early and be ready to stop and handle acts of encroachment and sabotage.
Direct the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to advise the City People's Committee to establish a Council to assess the condition of artifacts to propose solutions for preservation and restoration in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is responsible for presiding over and coordinating with the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to review and evaluate the work of displaying, preserving, protecting and measures to ensure security and safety for antiques and artifacts at museums, cultural and historical relics in the city; report to the City People's Committee before June 12, 2025 to report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Preside over and coordinate with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to promptly provide complete and accurate information to press agencies while promoting propaganda andeducation to raise awareness and perception of cultural heritage protection for people and tourists.
The Provincial People's Committee also directed the City Police to coordinate with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to investigate and clarify the violations of Ho Van Phuong Tam for handling according to the provisions of law.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Hue City Police has announced the decision to prosecute the criminal case, prosecute the accused and issue an order to detain for a period of 03 months the accused Ho Van Phuong Tam, born in 1983, registered permanent residence at: Group 7, Area 4, Huong Long Ward, Phu Xuan District, Hue City for the crime of intentionally damaging property, according to Point C, Clause 2, Article 178 of the Penal Code.
Regarding the inspection and assessment of the technical status of the national treasure "Nguyen Dynasty Throne", proposing solutions for preservation and restoration according to the provisions of law, based on the consensus of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Official Dispatch No. 2389/BVHTTDL-DSVH, the Chairman of Hue City People's Committee signed Decision No. 1566/QD-UBND on the establishment of a Council to assess the status and propose solutions for preservation and restoration of the national treasure "Nguyen Dynasty Throne".
The Council will hold a meeting on June 1, 2025. Based on the results of the meeting, Hue City People's Committee will continue to report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consider and decide on a plan to preserve and restore the national treasure "Nguyen Dynasty Throne" in accordance with regulations.
In the coming time, the City People's Committee will organize a Council meeting to assess the status and propose a plan to preserve and restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty Throne; synthesize opinions and report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration and decision on a plan to restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty Throne.
For the national treasures currently kept at the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, the City People's Committee has directed relevant agencies to complete and deploy detailed protection plans for each treasure in June 2025; focusing on ensuring adequate measures to prevent and combat theft, fire, explosion, natural disasters and other risks of damage to ensure absolute safety for national treasures.
The City People's Committee will prioritize investment in renovating and upgrading works, technical infrastructure, investing in specialized equipment for displaying and preserving artifacts and the area displaying national treasures at the Hue Monuments Conservation Center. Promote the application of new technology and artificial intelligence in management and supervision such as: early warning sensor systems, setting up virtual fences, security monitoring systems... to ensure that national treasures are placed in special preservation mode according to the instructions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
At the same time, direct the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to complete the overall plan for security and safety at the unit; display and sightseeing plan; plan for organizing personnel and facilities to both meet the needs of people and tourists and ensure the safety and security of artifacts and antiques.
