Khanh Hoa issues Green Tourism Standards

Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just issued the Green Tourism Standards for Khanh Hoa Province. Accordingly, the Standards include 2 standards for tourist accommodation establishments and tourist attractions. In particular, the Green Tourism Standards for tourist accommodation establishments include the following groups of criteria: Greenhouse gas emission criteria (18 criteria); Green action criteria (including 84 criteria, divided into 4 main topics: Sustainable development management team; environment; society; customers and employees).

The Green Tourism Standards for tourist attractions include the following groups of criteria: Greenhouse gas emission criteria (10 criteria); green action criteria (including 90 criteria, divided into 6 main topics: Sustainable development management team; environment; society; customers and employees; green transportation; conservation of cultural and natural resources).

Depending on each main topic, there will be specific criteria that clearly stipulate the contents that units and businesses need to implement in order to achieve Green Tourism certification. Each criterion is specified with a corresponding score, serving as a basis for evaluation according to 3 levels, ensuring feasibility in the implementation process at tourist establishments.

Tourism units and businesses self-assess the level of sustainability in their current tourism business activities based on the Green Tourism criteria and indicators, by accessing the self-assessment questionnaire on the Green Tourism software provided by the Assessment Council. Here, the units answer questions corresponding to the criteria and indicators of the Green Tourism Standards of Khanh Hoa province. Each indicator and criterion has a corresponding score. To achieve the benchmark scores, units and businesses need to provide at least one of the appropriate types of evidence to demonstrate that they meet the requirements of Green Tourism.

Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches, sectors, units and Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association to guide organizations, enterprises, tourism units (hereinafter referred to as tourism establishments) to apply and implement the Green Tourism Standards in the operation process at tourism establishments; at the same time, regularly monitor, inspect, and summarize the implementation situation; annually evaluate the results, problems and arising issues and propose the Provincial People's Committee to consider, adjust and supplement accordingly.

Relevant departments, agencies, units and Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in disseminating, deploying and guiding the implementation of the Green Tourism Standards to tourist establishments to achieve practical results.
