In addition to connecting partners and expanding the agricultural market directly, the application of e-commerce platforms is an important channel to help farmers and OCOP An Giang product owners find stable output.

Real potential

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in the period of 2016 - 2025, the agricultural sector will focus on promoting activities to connect agricultural product consumption through markets, trade connections, expanding and diversifying distribution channels. At the same time, supporting enterprises and cooperatives to participate in fairs, promoting product brands on the media to expand the consumption market. Promoting and introducing processed agricultural products and OCOP products on e-commerce platforms, helping to open up new consumption channels for product owners. To date, the province has 182 OCOP products with 3 stars or more. Many owners are actively taking advantage of e-commerce platforms to reach customers nationwide.

As a unit actively participating in promoting and promoting trade for agricultural products of the province on the e-commerce platform, An Giang Trade and Investment Promotion Center has effectively supported enterprises and OCOP product owners in recent times. Director of An Giang Trade and Investment Promotion Center Le Trung Hieu informed: "Applying information technology and digital transformation in business and product promotion is an inevitable trend today. Therefore, we have coordinated with units to carry out many activities to support farmers, enterprises and OCOP owners to develop sales channels on e-commerce platforms".

Mr. Le Trung Hieu added that the unit has successfully coordinated to organize the OCOP Market "An Giang Flavor" program on the TikTok platform, creating momentum for entities and businesses to access this fertile "land". The livestream session in the OCOP Market "An Giang Flavor" program reached 31.6 million people, including 1.6 million views; sold over 17,800 orders with a revenue of more than 3 billion VND. Thereby, affirming the real appeal of the e-commerce platform in the current shopping trend of people.

As the owner of the OCOP dried snakehead fish cheek product, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan (Long Kien commune, Cho Moi district) shared: “With the goal of bringing Cho Moi dried snakehead fish products to consumers nationwide, I have approached many distribution channels and actively participated in OCOP product promotion events in and outside An Giang province. I think that opening a booth on TikTok will be a necessary step, helping customers access more of our products.”

Participating in e-commerce platforms is an inevitable development trend of OCOP products today.

Increased exploitation

In recent times, the Department of Industry and Trade has also actively supported OCOP entities to participate in many product promotion and advertising programs, such as: OCOP product promotion fairs to border areas, remote areas, ethnic minority areas; seminar with the theme "Trade promotion: Unblocking output for OCOP products" combined with the An Giang OCOP product trade connection conference; supporting trade connection, supply and demand connection in the Northern provinces, Central region, Central Highlands, Ho Chi Minh City, etc.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is developing a Master Plan for National E-commerce Development for the 2026-2030 period, affirming that cross-border e-commerce is a priority in the overall strategy for e-commerce development in Vietnam. Therefore, improving export capacity, especially the export of agricultural products through e-commerce, is identified as the focus of e-commerce development in An Giang province in the coming period.

With the role of advising the Provincial People's Committee on State management of e-commerce, the Department of Industry and Trade is coordinating with relevant units to promote e-commerce development activities, such as: Improving e-commerce application capacity for enterprises through training programs; introducing solutions to promote the application of enterprise management software in production and business activities. Supporting enterprises in building e-commerce websites, participating in business activities on 3D virtual booths, domestic and foreign e-commerce trading floors. Building images, promoting brands, improving the quality of products and services of enterprises on e-commerce floors effectively. Supporting and encouraging all economic sectors, export enterprises to apply e-commerce, as well as participating in trade promotion events, consuming products and goods on cyberspace deployed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade will work with other sectors to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue and implement the E-commerce Development Plan of An Giang Province, period 2026 - 2030. In addition, coordinate with the customs sector to implement the Decree regulating customs management of imported and exported goods traded via e-commerce, after being issued by the Prime Minister. Having a separate policy for import and export activities via e-commerce is expected to create a complete, clear, and transparent legal corridor on management policies and electronic customs procedures, helping businesses to be more convenient in production and business activities.
