Quang Nam fosters practical skills in the heritage art of Bai Choi

(QNO) - This afternoon, May 29, at the Department of Education and Training of Thang Binh district, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Thang Binh district to organize a summary of the training course on teaching and fostering practical skills of the art heritage of Bai Choi in 2025.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the training course that took place in the past 10 days was the 16th class and the first class in 2025 organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the purpose of contributing to the implementation of Resolution No. 08, dated January 23, 2024 of the Provincial People's Council on regulations on content and support levels for preserving and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage of Bai Choi art in Quang Nam in the period of 2024 - 2030.

After 10 days of training, with the serious and responsible teaching of artist Nguyen Van Quy - Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Arts (Center for Culture, Information and Communication - Tourism of Hoi An City), musician Nguyen Tinh - Quang Nam Opera and Drama Group, the students have diligently and seriously studied, acquired knowledge and skills in singing Bai Choi and using musical instruments.

The training course on teaching and fostering practical skills of the Bai Choi art heritage in 2025 has demonstrated the urgency of preserving and promoting the intangible heritage of the Bai Choi art. At the same time, it contributes to the development of Bai Choi clubs and groups, meeting the needs of enjoying cultural and artistic activities of local people.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded 8 trainees with excellent achievements in the training program and awarded certificates to those who completed the training course.

Previously, on the morning of May 20, at the hall of the Department of Education and Training of Thang Binh district, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Thang Binh district to organize the opening of a training course on teaching and fostering practical skills of the Bai Choi art heritage in 2025 for 94 musicians, clubs, groups, teachers, students, and those who love and have the ability to absorb and practice the Bai Choi heritage in Thang Binh district.

Through the training course, the artisans introduced to the students the origin of the Central region’s bai choi; methods of organizing and maintaining the activities of folk bai choi clubs and groups; and how to organize a bai choi festival in Quang Nam. In addition, they also practiced playing instruments, singing and performing folk melodies, ly, ho, ve, hai hat bai choi, etc.
