Da Nang builds OCOP product story

Da Nang aims to improve the quality of OCOP products by linking value chains from local advantages, building product stories and applying new technologies.

On May 29-30, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang City and the College of Food and Agriculture jointly organized a training course on developing OCOP products according to the value chain linked with local materials.

According to Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Da Nang City, up to now, the locality has 148 OCOP products with 3 stars or more from 91 entities, including 85 3-star products, 61 4-star products and 2 potential 5-star products.

However, according to Ms. Hau, the structure of OCOP products in Da Nang is still unbalanced, mainly focusing on food and tourism groups. Most of the subjects are individual economic households, small-scale production, limited in trade promotion and improving product quality. In addition, investment in packaging, branding, competitive advantages and building product stories has not been focused on, making products lack highlights and difficult to create competitiveness in the market.

“The number of OCOP products in Da Nang is not much, but each product has its own characteristics, associated with natural conditions and local culture. In the coming time, we will continue to focus on developing products associated with eco -tourism , in line with the orientation of building Da Nang into a green and sustainable tourist city.

In addition to supporting the subject to improve product quality, we pay special attention to building stories for each product, to highlight the cultural, historical and local identity values. This is the factor that helps OCOP products increase their competitiveness in the market", Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang City shared.

At the training session, more than 50 trainees representing the People's Committees of communes and wards with recognized OCOP products and participants in the OCOP program were informed about contents such as building and developing OCOP products in the direction of value chain linkage; some new technologies in production and preservation of agricultural products and food; skills in promoting and selling OCOP products on e-commerce platforms; and visiting typical OCOP models.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Da Nang City awarded certificates of recognition of the results of the classification assessment for 19 products of 11 entities achieving 4-star OCOP products. The assessment results are valid for 3 years. This is a recognition of the continuous efforts of the production entities, at the same time demonstrating the role of companionship and active support from the local government and departments, branches and sectors in improving the quality of Da Nang OCOP products.
