Professor Tran Van Tho with the book 'Memories to the Future' goes beyond economic philosophy

The book 'Memories to the Future' with more than 500 pages, is not only a personal memoir but also a connection between the past and the present, between the memories and aspirations of Professor Tran Van Tho.

On the morning of May 30, Eastern International University (EIU - Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong ) organized a book launch event for Professor Tran Van Tho's book Memories of the Future to researchers and lecturers from many universities; businessmen, social activists in Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as EIU staff, lecturers, specialists and students.

Professor Tran Van Tho (born in 1949, in Quang Nam ) is a highly respected economist at home and abroad; an honorary professor at Waseda University (Tokyo, Japan), and received the Golden Ray of the Japanese Government's Order of the Precious Stones. In Vietnam, he has made many contributions to economic thinking, serving as a member of the Economic Advisory Group or Policy Research Board of Prime Ministers such as Vo Van Kiet, Phan Van Khai and Nguyen Xuan Phuc. He is also the author of many influential economic books in Japan and Vietnam, of which 5 books have been honored with the Good Book Award.

Professor Tran Van Tho's Memories of the Future is a true record of his life journey, in which he is always concerned about culture,education and aspirations for a prosperous future for his homeland Vietnam. The crystallization of more than half a century of academic studies and life experiences in Japan by Professor Tran Van Tho. The book is more than 500 pages thick, not only a personal reminiscence but also a connection between the past and the present, between memories and aspirations.

The book also contains the author's major concerns, such as: how to develop Vietnam, from a poor and war-torn country to a high-income country; and the ideal image of a developed country, where people have happy, civilized lives and are respected by the world...

Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, President of EIU, feels that although Professor Tran Van Tho is an economist, he has a deep understanding of culture, society and national history.

"Professor Tran Van Tho's research and works always place economic issues in the overall social context, showing a systematic thinking and a consistent view between the past, present and future time axes. This is also the spirit that EIU always wants to spread: training a new generation of intellectuals, not only good at their profession, but also having cultural identity and a sense of community responsibility," affirmed Dr. Ngo Minh Duc.
