The workshop attracted the participation of more than 120 delegates, representing state management agencies, seafood export associations , investment promotion agencies and large enterprises in the industry.

On the Indian side, there were Mr. Vijayakumar Yaragal - Deputy Director, Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA); Mr. Rama Sankar Naik, Chairman of the Fisheries Council of Andhra Pradesh; Mr. Chiranjiv Choudhary - Deputy Director of the Department of Food Processing Industries of Andhra Pradesh; Mr. Alex Ninan - Chairman of the Export Promotion Council, Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) of Kerala; Mr. Pawan Kumar - Chairman of the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI) and Mr. Dr. KN Raghavan - Secretary General (SEAI) along with experts from the Indian Investment Promotion Agency - Invest India and consulting firm KPMG.
Representing Vietnam were Ms. Tran Thuy Que Phuong - Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP); Ms. Nguyen Tam Tuyet Trinh - Deputy Director of the Center for Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion of An Giang province and Mr. Bui Trung Thuong - Vietnam Trade Counselor in India.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Bui Trung Thuong, Vietnam Trade Counselor in India, emphasized: “The fisheries sector is one of the areas with great potential for cooperation, bringing practical and long-term bilateral benefits to both Vietnam and India. It is time for the two sides to move from potential to concrete action - through direct connection, trade promotion cooperation, and policy coordination to support businesses.”
Mr. Vijayakumar Yaragal - Deputy Director, Marine Products Export Development Authority of India (MPEDA), affirmed that the fisheries sectors of both countries are highly complementary, with potential for extensive cooperation, especially in the fields of processing, domestic consumption, export, technology transfer, and value chain linkage, enhancing cooperation in the fisheries sector between the two countries.

Representing VASEP, Ms. Tran Thuy Que Phuong - Deputy Secretary General provided an overview of Vietnam's seafood processing industry, emphasizing its key export role with a turnover of 10 billion USD in 2024 and a modern processing system that meets international standards. Vietnam possesses many advantages in aquaculture, value-added products and opportunities for trade cooperation with India in the fields of logistics, processing technology and supply chain. Vietfish 2025 Fair is an important connection point to expand bilateral cooperation in the seafood industry.

Mr. Rama Sankar Naik, Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Fisheries Council, introduced that Andhra Pradesh state has 1,027 km of coastline and 226,000 hectares of aquaculture area, is the largest center of fish and shrimp production in India, accounting for 83% of fish production, 28% of shrimp, and 32% of the national seafood export value (fiscal year 2023-2024) with developed infrastructure: 4 fishing ports, 350 fishing wharves, 111 cold storages, 106 processing plants, 429 hatcheries, 258 ice factories, 36 aquatic feed factories...
While Vietnam has a lot of experience in seafood processing, especially in the Mekong Delta region. Vietnam and India have great potential for cooperation in the seafood sector. With its technology, experience and high international standards, Vietnam can cooperate effectively with Andhra Pradesh, the largest seafood production center in India. The workshop opened up many practical directions, from technology transfer, joint venture production, to investment in cold storage chains, logistics and sustainable development.
At the workshop, delegates from both sides also proposed some key cooperation orientations such as participating in a series of trade promotion events in each country. The Indian side invited Vietnamese enterprises to attend Seafood Expo Bharat 2025 organized by MPEDA in Chennai from July 1-3, 2025 and the India International Seafood Show in New Delhi from September 25-28, 2025.
The Vietnamese side encourages Indian businesses to participate in major fairs such as Vietfish 2025 (to be held in Ho Chi Minh City in August 2025) and Vietnam International Sourcing 2025 (Hanoi, chaired by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to be held from September 4 to 6, 2025).

The Vietnam Trade Office in India pledges to continue to play the role of a proactive bridge, accompanying businesses of the two countries in building a foundation for sustainable, multi-dimensional and effective cooperation, contributing to enhancing the trade value of Vietnamese seafood in the Indian market.
