Zalo continues to be the most popular messaging platform in Vietnam by 2025

According to Q&Me's "Vietnam Mobile App Popularity 2025" report in March 2025, Zalo maintained its leading position among popular messaging and calling applications in Vietnam with an outstanding usage rate.

Data shows that Zalo is far ahead of other competitors such as Messenger, Gmail, Telegram or Microsoft Teams... to be the leader in the field of online messaging and calling, demonstrated through impressive indicators.

Zalo continues to be the most popular messaging platform in Vietnam in 2025.

Zalo's usage rate reached 98%, proving that almost all surveyed phone users use Zalo. This number is far ahead of the second-ranked application, Messenger (82%), and the remaining applications are all below 55%. Based on usage time (Length), Zalo accounts for 22% of the total usage time of messaging/calling apps. This is the highest number among applications when Messenger only accounts for 5.6%, while other applications (Gmail, Telegram, Teams) are all below 0.5%.

Not only excelling in the calling and texting categories, survey data also shows that 98% of smartphone users in Vietnam use Zalo in general, helping the application surpass a series of international names such as Facebook (95%), Messenger (82%) and TikTok (79%) to become the most popular application in Vietnam by usage rate.

In terms of gender, Zalo continues to show its superior position when it is at the top with an almost absolute usage rate among both men and women at 96% and 100%. In terms of age, Zalo usage is almost absolutely popular among young people under 26 years old (100%), followed by Facebook and Tiktok (93%). For the age group from 27, this number reaches 97%.

Zalo's leading usage rate is not only a testament to the trust of users, but also affirms its position as the leading application in meeting the communication and connection needs of Vietnamese people. According to the report "The Connected Consumer Q4/2024" published by Decision Lab, Zalo continues to lead messaging platforms in Vietnam in both usage rate and popularity.
