Based on the results of the technical working session between the two working delegations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of METI on May 26, 2025, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long had a working session with Mr. Matsuo Takehiko, Deputy Minister of METI to discuss major issues in cooperation between the two ministries on energy and trade relations on May 27, 2025.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Matsuo Takehiko expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Vietnamese side for continuing to appreciate and attach importance to the potential for energy cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of nuclear power, gas power and renewable energy. The two Deputy Ministers also discussed, shared and sought solutions for projects proposed by Japan to support Vietnam's energy transition.
Regarding trade cooperation, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long and Deputy Minister Matsuo Takehiko discussed measures to develop bilateral trade relations and multilateral cooperation in the context of global trade fluctuations. The two Deputy Ministers agreed that the two sides should soon discuss and agree on a time to organize the 8th meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Joint Committee on Trade, Industry and Energy Cooperation in Vietnam.
Within the framework of his working program in Japan, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long visited and worked at the Embassy and Trade Office of Vietnam in Japan on May 28, 2025. In an exchange with the leaders of the Embassy and Trade Office, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long emphasized that energy cooperation is a pillar of cooperation in the overall current Vietnam - Japan relationship.
The Deputy Minister suggested that the Embassy and the Trade Office continue to promote their role as bridges to promote cooperation with the Ministry of METI, calling on Japanese enterprises to invest and do business in Vietnam in areas where Vietnam has demand and Japan has strengths, further promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
