National Taekwondo Championship 2025: Ho Chi Minh City won the first prize overall

After 3 days of competition with many dramatic matches, on the afternoon of May 28, the 2025 National Taekwondo Championship organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province in coordination with the Vietnam Sports Administration and the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation in Tam Ky city (Quang Nam province) ended.

Athletes compete in the boxing event at the tournament.

As a result, with the excellent performance of the martial artists as well as the careful preparation and investment of the host units, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation won the first prize overall, the Binh Duong delegation won the second prize and the Quang Nam delegation won the third prize.

The 2025 National Taekwondo Championship brings together nearly 400 Taekwondo athletes from 38 provinces, cities, and industries with strong Taekwondo training movements such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong , Lao Cai, Tien Giang, People's Public Security,...

Participating in the tournament, athletes compete in individual men's competitions in the following weight categories: 51kg, 54kg, 58kg, 63kg, 68kg, 74kg, 80kg, 87kg, over 87kg and individual women's competitions in the following weight categories: 44kg, 46kg, 49kg, 53kg, 57kg, 62kg, 67kg, 73kg, over 73kg.

The organizing committee awarded prizes to the winning teams.

In the team competition, athletes compete for 3 sets of medals: Women's team of 4 athletes with a total weight of no more than 260kg; Men's team of 4 athletes with a total weight of no more than 300kg; and Mixed team of 4 athletes (2 men and 2 women) with a total weight of no more than 135kg/woman and no more than 160kg/man.

In the Standard Quyen competition, athletes compete for 5 sets of medals: Men's individual, Women's individual, Men's team, Women's team, Mixed-female pair. In addition, in the Creative Quyen competition, athletes compete for 4 sets of medals: Men's individual, Women's individual, Team (with at least 2 male athletes or 2 female athletes), Mixed-female pair; Team performance competition: From 7 to 11 athletes, compete for 1 set of medals.

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Dung (in charge of Taekwondo, Vietnam Sports Department) said: This tournament was more successful than expected, the athletes competed very well, especially the young athletes who have made a lot of progress. This result proves that localities have paid attention to investing in Taekwondo.
