UNESCO accompanies localities owning world heritage in Vietnam

During his visit and work in Vietnam from May 18-23, Director of the World Heritage Center Lazare Eloundou Assomo highly appreciated the work of preserving and promoting heritage values ​​in Hue and Quang Ninh.

Specifically, Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo and a delegation from the United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) conducted a field survey to learn about the management, conservation and promotion of world cultural heritage values ​​in Hue.

In Hue City, the delegation visited typical relics in Hue Imperial City such as: Ngo Mon Gate, Ngu Phung Tower, Thai Hoa Palace, The Mieu, Hien Lam Pavilion, Kien Trung Palace; visited Hue Royal Antiquities Museum and An Dinh Palace.

In recent times, the work of preserving and promoting heritage values ​​in Hue has always been focused on and demonstrated in many fields.

Thanks to that, the heritages are not only preserved in a systematic and scientific manner but also gradually become a driving force for sustainable development of the local socio-economy and urban cultural life.

In the coming time, the task of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center will not only focus on the management, conservation, restoration and promotion of heritage but also focus on promoting the application of modern science and technology, digital transformation, digitization of relic restoration data, multimedia communication of Hue heritage images, development of cultural industry and heritage economy, supporting the harmony of community interests for sustainable development...

In particular, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center is researching and preparing a project registration dossier for the An Dinh Palace General Restoration Project to submit to the French Ministry of Culture and UNESCO for consideration and approval of funding.

This project is expected to contribute to improving the efficiency of exploitation to serve tourists, the community, research and education activities, and at the same time add highlights to cultural and artistic events in Hue Festival and international exchange programs.

Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo affirmed that the World Heritage Center always supports and is ready to provide professional advice in the conservation and promotion of world heritages.

In Quang Ninh province, the Director of the World Heritage Center also had a field trip to the world natural heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago.

During a field survey of Ha Long Bay, Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo highly appreciated the efforts to address environmental challenges, management and heritage conservation of Quang Ninh province.

He said that Quang Ninh's solutions and methods in managing, preserving and sustainably promoting Ha Long Bay heritage are typical models that localities and countries can refer to.

In the spirit of accompanying countries and localities that own heritage, including Quang Ninh province, UNESCO always supports and is ready to provide professional advice in the work of preserving and promoting world heritages.

On this occasion, Director Lazare Eloundou Assomo pledged to make efforts to work with Quang Ninh to manage, preserve and promote the world heritage values ​​of the province in particular and Vietnam in general.
