Localized flooding on Nguyen Van Rop Street has occurred for many years, however, this year the public cannot help but wonder because this road has just been upgraded and expanded but still continues to be severely flooded during heavy rains.
The intersection of Nguyen Van Rop and Huynh Cong Gian streets is heavily flooded every time there is heavy rain.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hieu, a business owner on Huynh Cong Gian Street (Tan Ninh Ward), said that when it rains heavily, the road in front of her house is heavily flooded, with water rising above the threshold. Her family has to move their business items to avoid flooding and damage. Motorbikes and cars running on the flooded road stalled and had to be towed away, waiting for a tow truck to come and tow them away. Ms. Hieu requested that the competent authorities have a solution to deal with the localized flooding situation every time it rains heavily on Nguyen Van Rop Street in the near future.
According to the Project Management Board of Construction Investment Area 1, the project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Van Rop Street, Tan Ninh Ward, is designed with a vertical system connecting to the intersection of Huynh Cong Gian - Nguyen Van Rop Street under the flood prevention project of Tay Ninh City - Hoa Thanh Town (invested in 2021). From there, the drainage system of the intersection of Nguyen Van Rop - Huynh Cong Gian Street continues to connect to the drainage ditch of the flood prevention project of Tay Ninh City - Hoa Thanh Town, from Chanh Mon A Street to Alley 25 of Lac Long Quan Street.
The cause of local flooding on Nguyen Van Rop Street every time it rains heavily is because the drainage ditch from Chanh Mon A Street to Alley 25 of Lac Long Quan Street has a small opening, which does not ensure drainage for the area. Currently, the Investment and Construction Project Management Board of Area 1 is coordinating with the Department of Economics, Infrastructure and Urban Areas to survey and have a plan to solve the local flooding situation on Nguyen Van Rop Street when there is heavy rain./.
