Localized flooding on Nguyen Van Rop Street has been a problem for many years; however, this year, the public is puzzled because this road, which has just been upgraded and widened, continues to experience severe localized flooding during heavy rains.

The intersection of Nguyen Van Rop and Huynh Cong Gian streets experiences severe localized flooding whenever there is heavy rain.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hieu, a businesswoman on Huynh Cong Gian Street (Tan Ninh Ward), said that during heavy rain, the section of road in front of her house is severely flooded, with water rising above her doorstep. Her family has to move their goods to avoid damage from the flooding. Motorcycles and cars driving on the flooded road stall and have to be pushed manually while waiting for tow trucks. Ms. Hieu requested that the relevant authorities implement solutions to address the localized flooding on Nguyen Van Rop Street during heavy rains in the future.

According to the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction in Area 1, the project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Van Rop Street in Tan Ninh Ward is designed with a longitudinal system connecting to the intersection of Huynh Cong Gian and Nguyen Van Rop Streets, part of the Tay Ninh City - Hoa Thanh Town flood control project (invested in 2021). From there, the drainage system at the Nguyen Van Rop - Huynh Cong Gian intersection continues to connect to the drainage ditch of the Tay Ninh City - Hoa Thanh Town flood control project, from Chanh Mon A Street to Alley 25, Lac Long Quan Street.

The cause of localized flooding on Nguyen Van Rop Street during heavy rains is due to the drainage ditch from Chanh Mon A Street to Alley 25 on Lac Long Quan Street having a small pipe diameter, failing to ensure adequate drainage for the area. Currently, the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction in Area 1, in coordination with the Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Planning, is surveying the situation and developing a plan to address the localized flooding on Nguyen Van Rop Street during heavy rains.
