In 2025, the total lychee output of the provinces of Bac Giang , Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Quang Ninh, Son La and Lang Son is estimated to reach about 303,000 tons, an increase of 30% compared to 2024. With the goal of exporting 60 - 70% of output, mostly to China, smooth customs clearance at border gates is a key factor.
Therefore, this year, the above localities have proactively contacted and connected businesses to boost exports through Lang Son 's border gates. For example, since the end of May 2025, when Luc Ngan lychee products (Bac Giang) entered the harvest season, the People's Committee of Luc Ngan district proactively sought businesses to export fresh lychee to China, focusing on exporting through Lang Son province's border gates.
To meet the export demand of this fruit, the People's Committee of Lang Son province has directed departments, branches, sectors and functional forces at the border gate to flexibly deploy many solutions to support the export of lychee. Thereby, relevant agencies and units have been proactive and actively supported.
Typically, at Tan Thanh border gate (with the largest output of agricultural products and fresh fruits for export in the Northern region), the functional forces (customs, border guards, plant quarantine, etc.) here have developed a specific plan to help vehicles carrying fresh mangoes, lychees, and fruits clear customs as quickly as possible.
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy Head of Tan Thanh Border Gate Customs, said: To facilitate the export of fresh lychees, since the end of May 2025, the unit has assigned officers in charge of closely following the activities of lychee exporting enterprises and supporting in carrying out customs procedures to clear goods in a timely manner... Therefore, the customs clearance time for each shipment of fresh lychees takes less than 1 minute.
Major Duong Thanh Tiep, Head of Tan Thanh Border Guard Station, shared: The station has arranged for officers to assign a separate lane for trucks carrying lychees, ensuring the fastest customs clearance time. Through monitoring, it shows that trucks carrying fresh lychees are exported smoothly, without congestion at the border gate area.
On the side of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board, during this time, it also presided over and coordinated with relevant agencies and forces at the border gates to exchange information with the equivalent agencies of Guangxi, China to unify the plan to facilitate customs clearance activities for Vietnamese export goods in general and fresh lychee in particular.
Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Economic Zone, said: The Board also regularly works with businesses operating wharfs at border gates and dedicated roads to agree on the arrangement of priority stops and parking spots for vehicles carrying fresh lychees and fruits. At the same time, coordinate with forces at the border gates in ensuring security activities, promptly handling problems of lychee exporting enterprises... These things help ensure customs clearance efficiency for lychees in particular and other goods in general to ensure that the border gates are always clear, helping import and export activities between Vietnam and China to be smooth and effective.
It is known that, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, relevant agencies of Lang Son also proactively updated the import-export situation, promptly informed localities and businesses to proactively regulate transportation. At the same time, they discussed with the authorities of Guangxi (China) to extend customs clearance time and flexibly inspect this product.
With the initiative and close coordination of the functional forces of Lang Son province, positive results have been achieved. Since May 23, at the border gate of Lang Son province, enterprises have begun to carry out export procedures for a number of shipments of fresh lychees via the Tan Thanh specialized freight line (area of landmark 1088/2-1089) and Chi Ma border gate. From then until June 4, the functional forces at the two border gates have carried out export procedures for more than 200 tons of fresh lychees.
Mr. Hua Van Suu, representative of the lychee purchasing and exporting enterprise (headquartered in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province) shared: Recently, the enterprise purchased early-ripening lychees and exported more than 40 tons to China. With timely support from the authorities at the border gate, the enterprise's lychee shipments were quickly processed by the forces at Tan Thanh border gate, thereby helping the enterprise reduce additional costs and ensure the quality of the shipments when exported to China.
It can be seen that all the solutions that the departments, branches and forces of Lang Son province are implementing have been contributing effectively to the consumption and promotion of economic value for Vietnam's specialty lychee.
