Hoa Phat Group signed a cooperation agreement with Hanoi University of Science and Technology

On July 16, 2025, Hoa Phat Group and Hanoi University of Science and Technology signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement. The agreement is built on the basis of promoting the strengths of each party, promoting research activities, technology transfer, digital transformation and innovation, as well as training and developing high-quality human resources.

Hoa Phat Group signed a cooperation agreement with Hanoi University of Science and Technology

The signing ceremony took place at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex with the participation of Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang - Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, representatives of the schools of Materials, Mechanics, Electricity - Electronics, Chemistry and Life Sciences , the Training Department, Foreign Cooperation and lecturers of the school who are teaching at the Complex. On the Hoa Phat side, there were General Director Nguyen Viet Thang, the Board of Directors of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Company, the Human Resources Department, the Foreign Affairs and Project Development Department of the Group and heads of the Company's departments.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang, General Director of Hoa Phat Group shared: Hoa Phat is one of the 3 largest private corporations in Vietnam, operating mainly in the field of steel production. Currently, there are 880 engineers from Hanoi University of Science and Technology working at Hoa Phat Group, most of whom are from the Faculty of Materials Engineering - School of Materials. In addition, the management team of member companies has 8 C2 level leaders who are former students of the University of Science and Technology. With a long-standing tradition of cooperation, Hoa Phat Group wishes to cooperate comprehensively and long-term in many fields with Hanoi University of Science and Technology to build a high-quality human resource team for the Group's projects.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang - Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology emphasized the cooperation between the two sides in the field of technology research and training associated with production practices.

Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang - Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology emphasized: "We recognize the need for long-term, in-depth cooperation with large private corporations across the country. This is a combination of the strength and will of both sides in the field of technology research and training associated with practical production, making practical contributions to the community and the country's industry."

Through this cooperation, Hoa Phat hopes to strengthen connections with leading experts and lecturers, promote research activities - technology transfer, digital transformation, as well as training and developing high-quality human resources; research to perfect the production technology of high-tech steels such as electrical engineering steel, railway steel, develop new steel grades, etc. Meanwhile, Hanoi University of Science and Technology hopes to expand practical access opportunities for staff, lecturers and students, improve the effectiveness of training - research, especially in the field of metallurgy - one of Hoa Phat's key industries.

The two sides will coordinate to organize short-term training programs, second-degree training, joint training and postgraduate training in fields such as Materials Engineering, Artificial Intelligence (AI), data processing and AI applications in Metallurgy. Students of the University of Technology will have the opportunity to intern and visit factories and units of Hoa Phat, while the Group's staff will also be given the opportunity to participate in specialized training programs at the school. The two sides also agreed to coordinate, provide scholarships and introduce high-quality human resources to each other.

Not only stopping at training, Hoa Phat Group and Hanoi University of Science and Technology will jointly research, develop and implement scientific and technological topics in fields such as: Iron and steel, new materials, environment, as well as cooperate in testing and evaluation according to international standards... Innovation activities, product development and digital transformation solutions are also focused on, with the active participation of students, lecturers and experts from both sides.

In addition, the Polytechnic University proposes to establish joint exploitation laboratories, coordinate in evaluating investment and environmental projects and carry out other cooperative activities depending on actual needs in each development stage.

After the signing ceremony, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology delegation visited the HRC2 Factory, ports 1 and 2 of the Complex.
