Attending the event were leaders of the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of districts and cities; and officers in charge of monitoring and reporting on the local rice production situation.
RiceMore was developed in collaboration between the Department of Crop Production (DCP), the Center for Digital Transformation and Statistics (DST) - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) to support the monitoring, management and direction of rice production. RiceMore allows for the systematization and storage of rice production data, updated weekly through a network of local officials from the commune level. The data is linked to the geographic information system and other information layers to facilitate production planning, disaster and pest response.
With the above feature, RiceMore helps synchronize production information on the Website and Mobile App platforms to replace the current manual reporting mechanism.
At the training session, delegates were given specific instructions by lecturers from the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the Department of Crop Production, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Hai Phong on the steps to update the system management page, database list (season, rice varieties, types of seeds, natural disasters, pests and diseases); production status reports (sowing progress, harvesting, mechanization, technical use, production damage); methods of synthesizing data, managing production area maps... With the system's intuitive interface and similarities with current reporting requirements, participants can easily grasp the functions of RiceMore.
The implementation of RiceMore can empower agricultural officials at various levels (provincial, district, commune) to monitor rice production progress with accuracy, timeliness, and geospatial precision. By using the system’s data, the professional agency can effectively forecast production trends, provide guidance to farmers to improve farming practices, reduce costs, and ultimately increase income for rice farmers.
The training course contributes to the gradual digitalization of monitoring and reporting on rice production, digitalizing Ninh Binh's agricultural sector in the coming time.
