Focus on leadership in building a global learning city

On November 14, Comrade Ha Trung Chien, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Son La City, Head of the Steering Committee of the Global Learning City chaired the Steering Committee meeting to evaluate the results of task implementation up to November 2024 and deploy tasks in the coming time.

Since the beginning of the year, Son La City has participated in 9 conferences and online conferences of UNESCO; participated in the UNESCO interview to prepare the content for the Workshop with the theme " Discovering the journey to build a Global Learning City" held from October 21-25, 2024 in Shanghai, China; put into operation 65 "Wisdom Houses", 49 "Compassionate Libraries"; over 52,000 citizens in the area achieved the title of "Learning Citizen", accounting for 70%; 26,074 families achieved "Learning Family", accounting for 95.9%; 14/14 clans achieved the title of "Learning Clan"; 139 groups and villages achieved the title of "Learning Community"; 12/12 communes and wards achieved "Learning Community"; 82 departments, offices, agencies, units, enterprises, and schools achieved the title of "Learning Unit"... The city successfully organized the "Lifelong Learning Response Week" in 2024 with a series of activities attracting the participation and response of a large number of cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, and people.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Ha Trung Chien requested communes, wards, and schools to promote their role as leaders in building a learning society, replicating the models of "Intelligence House" and "Compassionate Library"; the City People's Committee, the Departmentof Education and Training, the Department of Finance and Planning to review and include in the public investment portfolio projects and works of degraded schools; balance the budget to allocate capital to support "Intelligence House" and "Compassionate Library" in groups and villages; continue to maintain the Cultural Clubs of ethnic groups.../.
