Right after the days of welcoming the New Year of Giap Thin, farmers in localities in the province excitedly went to the fields to focus on producing the spring rice crop.
In Le Ho commune (Kim Bang), people went to the fields to prepare the land and sow rice since February 12 (the third day of Tet). Because many local workers have shifted to work in industrial parks, people took advantage of the days when businesses were not operating to plant rice. By February 15, the whole commune had planted nearly 30% of the total 200 hectares of spring rice. It is known that to serve the spring rice planting, before Tet, Le Ho Agricultural Service Cooperative (HTXDVNN) had taken water, plowed 100% of the land area and carried out double plowing and planting. Spring rice seedlings were sown on time, and the entire area was covered with plastic to protect against the cold. Since the beginning of February (before Tet), Le Ho Agricultural Service Cooperative has been planting rice by machine on 5 hectares out of a total of nearly 40 hectares as planned...
Mr. Ta Quoc Toan, Director of Le Ho Agricultural Service Cooperative, said: This year's spring rice crop, the rice planting schedule is right after the Lunar New Year. The locality mobilizes human resources to speed up the rice planting progress. It is expected that between February 23 and 25, Le Ho will complete the spring rice planting to ensure the right time for the crop.

Like Le Ho, localities in Kim Bang district and the province are all focusing on spring rice production. Production activities are taking place simultaneously in the fields, people are excited and expect a successful new crop. At Vo Giang Agricultural Service Cooperative (Thanh Liem), the spring rice planting area is 162 hectares; of which, 10% of the direct-sown rice area was done before Tet. The rice planting area (both machine-planted and manual) has basically been prepared before Tet. Local people started to go to the fields to concentrate on production from the 4th day of Tet. With machine-planted rice this spring crop accounting for 50% of the area, the production progress at the cooperative has been accelerated.
As a service provider, this spring, An Do tray rice planting cooperative (Binh Luc) is responsible for providing tray rice planting and machine planting services for 65 hectares of rice in some localities in the district (An Do, Tieu Dong, Binh Nghia) and in Liem Tuc commune (Thanh Liem). The preparation work for tray rice planting and the number of transplanting machines are fully prepared by the cooperative to meet production requirements. Regarding the number of transplanting machines, along with the 4 transplanting machines (3 hand-held and 1 seated) currently available, the cooperative signed a contract with an individual in Thanh Hoa province to bring 2 more seated transplanting machines to serve and ensure the area signed according to the contract. Tray rice seedlings are sown in the right area at the right time, well cared for and protected. Since the 5th day of Tet (February 14), the cooperative has carried out machine planting for about 7 hectares of rice in An Do commune and implemented in Tieu Dong, Binh Nghia, Liem Tuc communes according to the contract signed with the localities.
According to Mr. Truong Quang Hung, Director of An Do tray-planting cooperative, because this year spring rice planting was done earlier than previous years, the cooperative proactively prepared production conditions early, ensuring that after Tet, the tray-planted rice was old enough to be planted and the machine-planted rice areas of the cooperative signed contracts were carried out within the best time frame.
In the whole province, this year's spring rice crop was prepared by localities proactively and early. From the beginning of February (before Tet), the cultivated land area was sufficiently watered; basically the land area was plowed and over 50% was double-harrowed. At the same time, farmers in the province completed sowing 1,337 hectares of seedlings, reaching 100% of the area, including spare seedlings around the beginning of spring (early February). Before Tet, the whole province had more than 2,500 hectares of rice planted, equivalent to 9.2% of the area, mainly direct-sown rice and nearly 400 hectares of machine-planted rice. In the early spring, localities continued to mobilize human resources and means to go to the fields to ensure progress. In addition, the extermination of rats during the plowing stage and seed treatment to prevent Southern black-striped dwarf disease were also effectively organized...
Discussing the production of the 2024 spring rice crop at the beginning of the new spring, Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam, Head of the Department of Crop Production, Plant Protection and Forestry (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) assessed: This year's spring rice crop production was prepared early by localities in the province, basically meeting the crop schedule according to the general direction. Water collection and flooding were carried out effectively and completed right from the end of January and the beginning of February, creating conditions for the land to be well prepared. People complied quite well with the sowing and care of seedlings, especially covering 100% of the area with plastic to prevent cold... Right from the first days of the new spring, localities and agricultural service cooperatives focused on going to the fields for production. Spring rice planting was accelerated day by day, entering the peak period before February 25.
According to the forecast, the weather in the coming days will be quite favorable for people in the province to go to the fields to sow spring rice. It is expected that spring rice will be basically completed sowing and planting in February, ensuring compliance with the crop calendar.
