Taiwan's defense ministry said on September 11 that a Chinese naval formation led by the aircraft carrier Shandong had traveled 111 km to the southeast of the island and entered the western Pacific Ocean to conduct long-range drills, according to Focus Taiwan.
In addition to the aircraft carrier, Taipei said it also tracked a total of 13 Chinese military aircraft and drones, including J-16 fighters, flying near Taiwan since 5:40 a.m. this morning. The island's defense force said it had made an "appropriate response."

In addition, 26 Chinese fighter jets and 13 warships were also said to have appeared around Taiwan for 23 hours, from 6 a.m. on September 10 to 5 a.m. on September 11. Of the 26 aircraft, 11 crossed the median line in the Taiwan Strait and entered the ADIZ southwest of the island.
The Shandong, commissioned in 2019, participated in Chinese military exercises around Taiwan in April and operated in the western Pacific. It also passed through the Taiwan Strait in June.
China has not made any official announcement regarding the above activities.
