At 3:00 a.m. on May 26, Roon Border Guard Station reported receiving information: Transport ship Cong Thanh 07 with 11 crew members, carrying over 4,930 tons of coal, traveling from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh . At coordinates 18006'53" N-106030'30" E, about 10 nautical miles north of Hon La, encountered an accident, the ship tilted, water entered and sank. Currently, the crew members have left the ship.
Upon receiving the information, the Command directed units to contact and notify ships and boats operating in the sea area where the sunken ship was to carry out search and rescue (SAR) measures. At the same time, notify the sea units and Border Guard Squadron 2 to prepare forces and means to be ready for SAR missions.
At 5:15 a.m., fishing boat QB-93176-TS, owned and captained by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tu, in Canh Duong commune (Quang Trach), announced that he had rescued a crew member, Mr. Do Sy Thuong (born in 1978), in Diem Dien commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, who was the deputy captain of the cargo ship Cong Thanh 07. At 6:45 a.m. on May 26, boat QB-93176-TS brought this crew member to Roon estuary. Roon Border Guard Station sent officers to complete the reception procedures, and the unit's medical staff checked his health and found him to be basically stable. Mr. Thuong said that all crew members were wearing life jackets.
The Provincial Border Guard Command continues to direct units to communicate and notify on the media, fishing vessel monitoring systems, and digital platforms to vessels and fishermen operating in the above-mentioned sea area to participate in the search and rescue (currently, there are 9 fishing vessels participating); Roon Border Guard Station sends 3 comrades with Hai Van ship, belonging to Quang Binh Maritime Port Authority to participate in the search and rescue; Coastal Border Guard stations and Border Guard Squadron 2 are ready with forces and means when ordered.
