Thach An district has natural conditions, climate, and soil suitable for developing a number of agricultural crops with unique characteristics compared to other localities. Products from black jelly in Thach An are known and loved by many people with a special, cool, crispy, delicious jelly flavor, with the effect of cooling, cooling the liver, beautifying the skin and many medicinal properties beneficial to human health... Previously, black jelly was only produced in the summer, but in recent years, black jelly has been made all year round and has good consumption. One of the highly effective production facilities in the district is Le Thuy Black Jelly facility, known by many people for its black jelly product that achieved 3-star OCOP at the provincial level and is a typical rural industrial product of the province in 2020; The product has won the "Golden Agricultural Brand 2022" of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development. Ms. Nong Thi Le Thuy, owner of Le Thuy black jelly facility, said: The facility purchases black jelly from people growing on the fields to process into canned black jelly products. In the coming time, the facility is oriented to develop the product as 4-star OCOP. Currently, focusing on improving quality, doing a good job of promoting products with more beautiful and diverse designs. At the same time, expanding the consumption network to provinces and cities across the country, promoting on online sales channels, bringing products to large supermarkets in and outside the province... to introduce and widely promote the products to tourists.

In order to form a production area focusing on many good quality products to meet the market demand and increase people's income, in recent years, the district has mobilized people to invest and expand the area of ​​black jelly planting. Up to now, black jelly has been planted in 9/15 communes and towns, mostly in the communes of Trong Con, Duc Thong, Canh Tan, Minh Khai, Quang Trong, Kim Dong, Thai Cuong, Thuy Hung; mainly grown on 2 types of land: agricultural land and forestry land. On average, the price of dried black jelly is about 40 - 60 thousand VND/kg, bringing a fairly high economic value to farmers. This is the basis for local people to escape poverty and become rich legitimately. Ms. Phung Thi Quyet, Tan Thanh hamlet, Canh Tan commune shared: My family grows 2,500 m2 of black jelly on rice fields. Every year, I participate in training courses on planting and caring for jelly trees organized by local departments. Each year, the income is over 70 million VND, mainly from production facilities and traders who come to buy directly from the garden. Currently, the market for black jelly is mainly companies, cooperatives, and private traders who buy from households to process through a pressing system and export to China, Thailand, and India. The domestic market also has a number of businesses, companies, households, and individuals who collect to process finished black jelly, canned for export to some lowland provinces. On average, during the peak season, about 3,000 boxes are produced each day. Black jelly in the form of food and dried black jelly were granted a Certificate of Trademark Registration by the Department of Intellectual Property in 2020, the trademark is owned by the People's Committee of Thach An district. The People's Committee of Thach An district granted a certificate of the right to use the currently certified label "Black Jelly - Thach An" to 9 households processing and trading black jelly products in the province. This has created conditions for organizations and individuals producing and processing in the area to use labels, trace the origin clearly and users trust and feel secure when using the district's black jelly products, contributing to building a solid foundation, creating a brand for local products widely popular in the market.

Currently, most of the farmers produce black jelly on a small, fragmented household scale, so the products produced do not meet the demand for goods. The types of goods produced do not have any businesses signing contracts to consume, the consumption market is unstable. Therefore, in recent years, the district has sought many solutions to help people establish a chain of product consumption links and form and develop concentrated production areas. Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thach An district, Vu Duc Thien, said: In the following years, the district plans to continue to direct and mobilize people to develop more areas capable of growing black jelly, while at the same time, combining funding sources to support people in intensive farming to increase productivity and quality of black jelly products. Organize training and instruct people on how to use fertilizers, how to prevent diseases, and choose varieties. In order for black jelly products to reach far, it is necessary to standardize production processes to the harvesting and packaging stages. Therefore, in addition to the State's investment, the district has taken advantage of project support funded by the Provincial Farmer Business Support Project, which has granted 189 area codes for growing jelly, ensuring quality for export to foreign countries.
