Recently, the Thai Volleyball Federation announced the list of 14 names participating in the SEA V.League Women's Volleyball Tournament, Phase 1, taking place from August 1 to 3.
In this list, only 2 pillars are absent, Chatchuon and Wimonrat. But these are unavoidable absences because both were injured in the FIVB Nations League 2025 (VNL) that just ended last week.
In recent years, the Thai women's volleyball team has often left out some key players when participating in regional tournaments such as the SEA V.League or the SEA Games. The reason is that the Thai women's volleyball team has quickly reached the continental level, even approaching the world level.
Not only that, many of their players are playing abroad. So sometimes they cannot devote all their time to the team. Especially when participating in tournaments within the Southeast Asian framework.
But at this year's SEA V.League, Thailand has determined that this will be a warm-up tournament for the Women's Volleyball World Championship taking place at the end of August.
Before coming to SEA V.League, the Thai women's volleyball team "surprised" at VNL 2025 when they overcame Korea to stay in the league in the final round. For many different reasons, the Thai team has not been in good form recently.
Therefore, SEA V.League will be an important tournament for Mr. Kiattipong and his team to regain their form, aiming for the world tournament they will host in 3 weeks.
In addition, the rise of Vietnamese women's volleyball is making Thailand cautious. Before the tournament, coach Kiattipong answered an interview that he was very "cautious" about the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at the moment.
