In 2010, a 5-year-old boy named He Yide shocked China when he became the world's youngest pilot. He flew an ultralight aircraft for 47 minutes, setting a Guinness World Record.
The boy continued to amaze when he entered a prestigious university at the age of 8. Ha Nghi Duc became a prodigy and a role model for “other people’s children” in the eyes of many people. His current educational path and life continue to attract the attention of the national online community, according to Sohu.
Controversy over education
Born in 2005, Ha Nghi Duc was trained by his father, businessman Ha Liet Thang, using an extremely harsh educational method, called "eagle education". He believes that children must be trained in a brutal survival style, helping them develop their independent and resilient instincts.

From a young age, Ha Nghi Duc did not attend formal school but his father personally designed a home-schooling program for him. He was oriented to break records from kindergarten age. He woke up at 6:45 am and went to bed at 8:30 pm. In addition to being trained in knowledge, Nghi Duc also learned Taekwondo and chess.
At the age of 4, he had to run in the snow wearing only shorts. At the age of 5, he was trained to fly with the aim of setting a record. In August 2010, Ha Nghi Duc flew an ultralight aircraft over a wildlife park, setting a record as the world's youngest pilot.
At the age of 7, He Yide was taken by his father to the Nanjing Bureau of Industry and Commerce to establish a company under his own name, becoming the largest shareholder with 40% of the shares. The company attracted many venture capitalists from all over the country. He Yide completed high school in just 2 years. In 2013, at the age of 8, he passed the entrance exam to the prestigious Nanjing University, becoming the youngest student in China.
However, after witnessing the way her husband educated his son, Ha Nghi Duc's mother firmly opposed letting him continue educating his daughter. She believed that this method had robbed her son of a happy childhood.
Having skipped several grades of school, Ha Nghi Duc had no friends his own age to talk to. His mother declared that she would not let her daughter become a "second Ha Nghi Duc", only hoping that her child would grow up happily.
Despite the controversy, father Ha Liet Thang still maintained his stance. He said: "As a father, I have to be responsible for my child. Initially, I just wanted Nghi Duc to become a normal child, but during the training process, I realized his potential. Only 'eagle education' can train a smart, healthy and well-rounded child."

When Ha Nghi Duc achieved remarkable results, Chinese public opinion at that time had many mixed reactions. Some people praised him as a genius, proving the effectiveness of the "eagle education" method. However, many people were concerned that training children in an overly harsh way could have a negative impact on their psychological and social development later in life.
How is Ha Nghi Duc now?
He Yide did not become complacent after entering Nanjing University, but continued to maintain strict discipline in his studies. In 2019, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree and then participated in many Chinese intellectual programs. He Yide’s success continues to be admired by many but also raises questions about the true happiness of a child prodigy.
In an interview, Ha Nghi Duc shared: "Actually, I never liked my father's way of educating. He was too strict and I wanted to have a normal life."
However, in a later conversation, the young man admitted that although he did not have a happy childhood like his sister, he still felt that his childhood was meaningful. Every time he talked about his father, he still looked at him with respect but also with reserve.
Currently, Ha Nghi Duc continues to study at home, maintains a strict schedule and prepares to pursue a master's and doctorate degree at the same time.
