The Socio-Economic Situation Report for November and 11 Months of 2023, released by the General Statistics Office on the morning of November 29, said that in November 2023, Vietnam's tourism welcomed over 1.23 million international visitors, an increase of 11% over the previous month. This is the month with the highest number of international visitors since the beginning of 2023. By the end of November 2023, the total number of international visitors to our country is estimated at over 11.2 million, 3.8 times higher than the same period last year and equal to 68.9% compared to 2019 when Covid-19 had not yet occurred.

With this growth momentum, Vietnam tourism is expected to achieve the target of welcoming 12 to 13 million international visitors in 2023 as adjusted in the Government report in early October.

In the first 11 months of 2023, Korea continued to be the largest market sending visitors with more than 3.2 million visitors (accounting for 28.5% of total international arrivals). Next were visitors from China and Taiwan (China) with 1.5 million and 758,189 visitors, respectively. Visitors from China continued to maintain a growth rate of nearly 10%...

In Southeast Asia, Thailand is the largest market sending visitors to Vietnam with about 442 thousand arrivals; followed by Malaysia with about 419 thousand arrivals; and Cambodia with about 359 thousand arrivals.

In November 2023, the European market had the best growth among the continents, up 58.5% compared to October 2023. Notably, there were contributions from markets enjoying unilateral visa exemption policies with temporary stays of up to 45 days according to Resolution 128/NQ-CP effective from August 15, 2023 such as: UK (+38.6%), France (+72.5%), Germany (+36.1%), Italy (+55.1%), Russia (+41.8%), Denmark (+32.9%), Sweden (+84.8%), Norway (+52.7%), Finland (+30.2%), Spain (+15.5%).

Regarding tourism revenue, the General Statistics Office's report shows that in the past 11 months, this sector is estimated to have reached VND34,000 billion, accounting for 0.6% of the total and increasing by 50.5% over the same period last year. Some localities with high tourism revenue growth compared to the same period last year include: Khanh Hoa increased by 138%; Da Nang increased by 134.7%; Can Tho increased by 129.9%; Quang Ninh increased by 87.5%; Ho Chi Minh City increased by 68%; Hanoi increased by 52.9%; Hai Phong increased by 44%.

Revenue from accommodation and catering services in the first 11 months of 2023 is estimated at VND616 trillion, accounting for 10.9% of the total and increasing by 15.3% over the same period last year. Some localities with high revenue growth include: Da Nang up 34.9%; Can Tho up 31.1%; Ho Chi Minh City up 30.2%; Hai Phong up 13.3%; Hanoi up 10.5%.

The impressive figures in tourism, travel and accommodation revenue were achieved thanks to the fact that since the beginning of 2023, localities have actively implemented many tourism products, cultural and sports activities, and promoted regional linkages to develop tourism.

On November 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the "Conference on rapid and sustainable development of Vietnam tourism" in person at the Government headquarters and online connection to the headquarters of the People's Committees of provinces and cities across the country.

At the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the overall development orientation of Vietnam's tourism has been identified in Resolution No. 82/NQ-CP dated May 18, 2023 as "Unique products - Professional services - Convenient and simple procedures - Competitive prices - Clean and beautiful environment - Safe, civilized and friendly destinations".

In that spirit, the conference focused on exchanging and discussing to find solutions to short-term and long-term problems; finding answers to a number of key issues for the Vietnamese tourism industry to develop rapidly and sustainably in the coming time: Identifying opportunities and challenges of Vietnamese tourism; sharing successful experiences of Vietnam and other countries in the world, good practices, valuable lessons; proposing breakthrough, specific, feasible solutions to remove difficulties, overcome challenges, take advantage of opportunities, create favorable conditions for the rapid and sustainable development of Vietnamese tourism.
