March in Son La, celebrate the festival in the largest hawthorn flower forest in Vietnam

Son La - The 2024 Hawthorn Flower Festival will take place at the largest Hawthorn forest in the country in Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district on March 9-10 with many exciting activities.

As scheduled, every year, at the end of February and the beginning of March, the hawthorn flowers (apple flowers) bloom white in the Northwest sky, especially in Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district. This is also the time when the Hawthorn Flower Festival takes place. This year, this festival is organized at the district level with many attractive activities. Talking to Lao Dong , Mr. Lo Van Thoa - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district shared that up to now, the preparation work has been basically completed, ready to welcome people and tourists to the "fairyland" on this occasion.

The special activities expected to take place include a Creative Camp with the theme "Lost in the Son Tra Forest", displaying and introducing booths of agricultural products, culture, OCOP products of localities in Muong La district and neighboring districts such as Than Uyen (Lai Chau), Tram Tau, Van Chan, Mu Cang Chai ( Yen Bai ) and Bac Yen (Son La). In addition, folk games and ethnic sports including tu lu, crossbow shooting, stick pushing, pao throwing, blindfolded goat catching, goat fighting, beeswax painting on fabric and parachute performance in Ngoc Chien commune will be organized.

In particular, at this year's festival, Ngoc Chien commune will receive the certificate of the largest Son Tra flower forest in the country. According to Mr. Thoa, the Son Tra Flower Festival in 2023 has attracted about 30,000 visitors to Ngoc Chien to enjoy the blooming Son Tra flower forests. This year, it is expected that about 50,000 visitors will come here. Currently, there are more than 30 qualified accommodation establishments in the area with a capacity of about 1,000 - 2,000 visitors/day and night.

Currently, in Muong La district, there are 2 localities with large areas of hawthorn trees: Chieng Cong and Ngoc Chien communes. In which, Ngoc Chien commune is the locality with the largest area of ​​Son Tra flower forest in the country with 2,400 hectares of flowers in full bloom, attracting people and tourists. The most beautiful blooming area is Nam Nghep village - a famous community tourism village here. With the above area, Son Tra flower forest in Ngoc Chien commune is recognized as the largest Son Tra forest in the country.
