At the AVC Nations Cup 2025, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team registered with the strongest force of 14 players: Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Phan Cong Duc, Cao Duc Hoang, Nguyen Thanh Hai, Trinh Duy Phuc, Hoang Xuan Truong, Dinh Van Duy, Tran Duy Tuyen, Truong The Khai, Che Quoc Lo Vit, Nguyen Van Quoc Duy, Duong Van Tien, Quan Trong Nghia and Pham Quoc Du.

The team is in Group D with Korea and New Zealand, competing in a round robin to compete for the top two positions in the quarter-finals.

Because the New Zealand team lost 0-3 to South Korea in the opening match, the Vietnamese team only needs to win against this opponent to soon enter the quarterfinals.

As expected, coach Tran Dinh Tien's students had an impressive performance to defeat New Zealand with a score of 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-15).

This is a match in which the Vietnamese team exploited the opponent's initial weakness very well to create an active game.

Van Duy (number 1) and his teammates quickly entered the quarter-finals.

In this match, setter Quoc Duy Duy was the best player of the Vietnamese team, he scored the most points (17) along with quality serves that made it difficult for the opponent to catch the first step.

Besides Quoc Duy, main attacker Ngoc Thuan and middle attacker Duy Tuyen (both scored 11 points) and setter Van Duy also had a successful match.

With an early entry into the quarterfinals, the Vietnamese team will play the match to determine the top spot in Group D against the Korean team at 8:30 p.m. tonight, June 19, Vietnam time.

This is the third consecutive time the Vietnamese team has participated in the AVC Nations Cup. In 2023, the team ranked 4th, a year later the team ranked 6th.
