(HNMO) - On the evening of June 20, the Vietnamese team entered the second international friendly match against the Syrian team at Thien Truong Stadium ( Nam Dinh ).
After a 1-0 victory over Hong Kong (China), coach Philippe Troussier and his players entered the second friendly match against a more highly rated opponent, the Syrian team.
In the first third of the first half, the Vietnamese players played confidently and deployed the ball quite well. The match was exciting when the Vietnamese players actively played the ball and created many dangerous situations.
However, the Syrian team is not an easy opponent to bully. Although the match was only a friendly, the representative of West Asia played very seriously and showed their strength.
The two teams played tit for tat, the attacking strikers on both sides had favorable scoring opportunities but missed them all.
In the second half, coaches Philippe Troussier and Hector Cuper both made personnel adjustments. On the Vietnamese side, Tien Anh and Tuan Hai were sent onto the field.
The French coach's decision to make a substitution paid off.
In the 49th minute, Tuan Hai had the ball in front of the penalty area. The Hanoi striker took a low shot, the ball went into the dead corner, defeated the Syrian goalkeeper, and opened the score for the match.
With the advantage, the Vietnamese team continued to increase pressure on the opponent's goal. Meanwhile, the Syrian team also pushed up their formation to find an equalizer. The match was brought into an open game, with both teams playing tit for tat.
In the remaining minutes of the second half, despite having dangerous attacks, Syria could not create any breakthroughs and accepted a minimal 0-1 defeat.
