Career guidance activities aim to help parents and students be more proactive in learning and choosing a career based on the compatibility between personal abilities and interests and the diverse needs of human resources.
More than 3,000 students in Ho Chi Minh City received career orientation at the program "Choosing a career for the future with you" in 2024 organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Employment Service Center in coordination with District Youth Unions 1, 8, 11, Tan Phu, Binh Tan, Cu Chi and Can Gio District Youth Unions from June 8 to July 20.
The program took place continuously at 10 high schools, middle schools, vocationaleducation centers, continuing education centers, children's houses, and vocational education facilities, not only attracting a large number of students and parents to participate, but also experts in the field of vocational education, representatives of colleges and intermediate schools participating in providing information on enrollment targets, scale of theoretical and practical training facilities, and future career trends.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Thao Linh, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Young Pioneers Council, this is one of the Summer 2024 activities of Ho Chi Minh City to support parents and 8th and 9th grade students in orienting careers suitable to their personality and abilities.
At the same time, the program creates conditions for students to interact and discuss directly with experts in the field of vocational education and career guidance, thereby orienting them in choosing the right school and career in the new situation; helping them to have a plan to equip themselves with knowledge and practice appropriate skills early on.
"By participating in the program, students and parents will not only receive advice and answers to questions during the career selection process, but will also be guided in planning their career goals and making plans for nurturing and pursuing their favorite career in the following years. Experts also guide students to enter regular classes, bridging classes, 9+, colleges, and vocational schools through the form of considering the results of graduation exams, considering the results of secondary school studies; registering for admission online or at the admission office, school, and tuition exemption and reduction policies for early registration cases...," Ms. Linh shared.
Coming to the program, students can also participate in the career test "HOLLAND - choosing the right major" on the online platform https://bit.lylkhaosatnghenghiepnam2024 to explore their personality, learn about personal interests and career passions, self-assess their abilities; games to learn about groups of industries and professions such as choosing the right career, looking at gestures to guess the career, stating the work of each career... with rewards.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Cuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Employment Service Center, career guidance activities aim to help parents and students be more proactive in researching and choosing a career based on the compatibility between personal abilities and interests and the diverse needs of human resources to meet the needs of socio-economic development.
Therefore, the career guidance and admission program aims to help students clearly identify their abilities, strengths, interests and determination to pursue their goals in order to study the right major, the right school and soon succeed in their dreams./.
In fact, vocational training is a suitable choice for many students in terms of learning ability, while helping to shorten study time and enter the labor market early.
