Director Hoang Nhat Nam - representing Thanh Thuy's management unit - said that the beauty queen possesses the qualities that meet and suit the competition's criteria. "After discussions and surveying the public, we chose Thanh Thuy to follow in the footsteps of runner-up Phuong Nhi to participate in the competition," Mr. Nam said.
Currently, Thanh Thủy and her team are preparing traditional costumes and evening gowns, collaborating with many designers. The beauty queen is also practicing her catwalk skills and learning English and Japanese.
The international beauty website Missosology published information about Thanh Thủy shortly after the announcement, attracting thousands of likes. According to the site, Thanh Thủy was the winner of the most famous and long-standing beauty pageant in Vietnam.
Her full name is Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy, 22 years old, from Da Nang , and 1.76 m tall. Before being crowned Miss Vietnam 2022, she won the title of Miss Foreign Languages University under Da Nang University, and was the first runner-up in the Da Nang City Elegant Student Contest in 2021. Currently, Thanh Thuy is studying at two universities: Foreign Languages University (Da Nang University) and Greenwich University Vietnam.
Over the past year, she has attended numerous events, participated in fashion shows, spoken to university students, and carried out a series of community-oriented activities.
Miss International is one of the three major beauty pageants in the world , alongside Miss World and Miss Universe. First held in 1960, it takes place annually in Tokyo, Japan. At the 61st edition of the pageant, held in October 2023, reigning Miss International 2022 Jasmin Selberg crowned her successor, Andrea Rubio, 23, from Venezuela.
Previous Vietnamese beauties who achieved good results at Miss International include Thuy Van - 3rd runner-up (2015), Tuong San - top 8 (2019), and Phuong Nhi - top 15 (2023).
