(CPV) - From December 16 to 18, Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, wife of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son, Honorary President of the ASEAN Community Women's Group in Hanoi, led a delegation of female officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam to participate in the annual exchange program between the Women's Committees of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Laos in the capital Vientiane.

Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc and the delegation of Vietnamese female diplomats paid a courtesy visit to Ms. Naly Sisoulith, wife of the General Secretary and President of Laos; met with Ms. Alouny Kommasith, wife of the Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, Ms. Vadsana Phomvihane, wife of the Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs; worked with Ms. Aly Vongnorbountham, President of the Central Committee of the Lao Women's Union; chaired the meeting between the Women's Committees of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs ; visited Champasak province and worked with the leaders of the provincial Women's Union.
During the meeting, Ms. Naly Sisoulith expressed her pleasure to welcome the delegation of the Women's Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs one month after the successful visit to Laos and participation in the 9th ASEAN Traditional Textile Workshop (Vientiane, November 2024) by Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam. She warmly greeted and congratulated the Vietnamese female diplomats for their important contributions to foreign affairs and promoting the solidarity and trust between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs. Ms. Naly Sisoulith emphasized the close and loyal relationship between Vietnamese and Lao women in the struggle for national liberation as well as in national construction and development; hoping that generations of women in the period of innovation and integration will continue to promote valuable traditions, strengthen cooperation, support each other, contribute to the development of each country and the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc conveyed the greetings of Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, expressing her honor to join the delegation of female officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam to pay respects to the wife of the General Secretary and President of Laos, and expressing her gratitude for the special affection she has for Vietnam, always considering Vietnamese women as family members. Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc shared the results of the talks between the two Women's Committees, affirming that female officials of the two Foreign Ministries will continue to coordinate closely, promote the value of the exchange mechanism between the two Women's Committees, of which Ms. Naly Sisoulith is one of the co-founders, and together contribute to the special Vietnam-Laos relationship, which was founded by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong and has been cultivated by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries, to be forever green and everlasting.

At the meeting between the Women's Committees of the two Foreign Ministries, Ms. Alouny Kommasith, Honorary President of the Women's Association of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed her pleasure to welcome the delegation and highly appreciated the regular and effective maintenance of the exchange mechanism between female diplomats, sharing of experience and professional work, as well as the practical contributions of female diplomats in foreign affairs, contributing significantly to the consolidation and development of relations between Vietnam and Laos in general and between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs in particular.
Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc congratulated Laos and the important contributions of the female diplomatic staff to the success of Laos's role as Chair of ASEAN 44 and 45 and Host of AIPA 45 in 2024. Appreciating the cooperation mechanism between female diplomatic staff of the two countries, she suggested that the Women's Committees of the two Foreign Ministries continue to promote practical exchanges and activities on foreign affairs as well as women's work, meeting new requirements, thereby contributing to the common success of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the foreign affairs sector of each country.
The two sides informed and shared many experiences in implementing activities to promote gender equality, empower women, improve capacity and skills for female cadres, and agreed to continue to support and assist each other in implementing women's work, including the activities of the ASEAN Community Women's Group in each country's capital. Emphasizing the importance of enhancing training and fostering female diplomatic staff, the two sides agreed that Vietnam will support the training of Lao female diplomatic staff through the Vietnam - Laos - Australia tripartite cooperation channel.

Working with Ms. Aly Vongnorbountham, President of the Central Committee of the Lao Women's Union, Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc shared her joy at witnessing the development of Laos, including the effective contributions of the female workforce, grandmothers, mothers, and sisters. Ms. Aly Vongnorbountham was moved, welcoming the delegation of Vietnamese female diplomats to visit and work in Laos, highly appreciating the effectiveness of the cooperation program of women's exchange, contributing to diversifying the forms of exchange and mutual learning between Lao and Vietnamese women's organizations.

Visiting Champasak province, Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc shared with the Governor's wife her and the female delegation's deep impressions of the beautiful and hospitable land of Champasak. Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc congratulated the province on its good development achievements in recent times, especially promoting the role of women in local development and enhancing exchanges with other provinces and cities of Vietnam, while introducing and exchanging information on cooperation activities between the Women's Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Laos.
The 2024 exchange program between the Women's Union of the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of Foreign Affairs was a great success, contributing practically to the overall success of the cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs in the 2021-2025 period. The two sides agreed to continue to maintain and promote annual exchange activities in 2025 in Vietnam./.
