RULES AND REGULATIONS

PHOTO CONTEST “PRESS MOMENT 2022”

“Journalistic Moment 2022” is a photo contest organized by the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper under the direction of the Vietnam Journalists Association . The “Journalistic Moment” award has been successfully organized by the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper for the past four years within the framework of the annual “Journalism Gala”. In 2023, the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper expanded and elevated the “Journalistic Moment” photo contest with the expectation that it will become a national-level “meeting point” and “photojournalism playground,” attracting even more photojournalists from media outlets nationwide, keeping pace with modern photojournalism trends, and discovering and honoring talented photojournalists.

Comrade Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association - visited the Top 50 "Journalistic Moments 2021" Exhibition within the framework of the 2022 Journalism Gala.

II. RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Award Name: "PRESS MOMENT 2022" PHOTO AWARD

2. Principles, objectives, and criteria of the competition:

2.1. To honor impressive photojournalism works that truthfully, diversely, vividly, and creatively reflect the realities of life;

2.2 Discover and celebrate impressive and insightful perspectives; photographs that have the power to evoke emotions and thoughts; and inspire positive change in the community and social development, as reflected in the press during the year;

2.3. Creating a platform for photojournalists, encouraging innovation and creativity in photojournalism;

2.4. Contributing to the development and improvement of the quality of Vietnamese photojournalism.

3. Participants

Journalists and reporters from media outlets throughout Vietnam (including Vietnamese journalists and reporters working abroad, and contributors to newspapers) are eligible to participate in the competition. (Members of the Organizing Committee and the Judging Panel are not eligible to participate).

4. Main Categories: The "Journalistic Moment 2022" photo contest consists of 3 categories:

- Current Affairs

- Social life

- Sport

The judging panel will select 50 outstanding works from which to choose the grand prizes in the categories of the "Journalism Moment 2022" award.

5. Regulations of the Organizing Committee

Submitted photos can be single photos, photo essays, or photo series (photo essays and photo series should not exceed 10 photos).

5.1 Only digital image files (jpg) will be accepted. Image size: 2,000 – 3,000 pixels in length, 300 dpi/inch resolution (Image file size of 3MB or more).

5.2 Submitted photos can be black and white or color, belonging to one of the three award categories (News, Social Life, Sports), and must have been published in newspapers within the year from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. Photos can be taken with a camera or mobile phone. Photos may have won awards in domestic and international competitions.

5.3 Authors or groups of authors may submit one or more works to the competition. Authors should send image files to the competition's email address: khoanhkhacbaochi.nbcl@gmail.com

5.4 Submitted photos must clearly state the photo category, the photo title, a brief description of the photo (time, location, event in the photo), and the author (phone number, contact address, workplace).

5.5 Contest entries must be accompanied by a photo of the author's article that has been published in a print newspaper or a link to the article with the photo that has been published in an online newspaper.

5.6 Works that are staged, arranged, pieced together, or have undergone technical manipulation that distorts objective reality are not acceptable.

5.7 The submitted work must ensure accuracy and truthfulness of the information contained within.

5.8 The author is fully responsible before the law for the copyright of the work as well as the informational content of the event expressed in their submitted work.

5.9 The organizers reserve the right to reject or disqualify entries that are submitted late, lack specific photo captions, or violate the competition rules.

6. Author's rights

6.1 The organizing committee has the right to retain and use the winning entries free of charge for exhibition purposes, and to use the information and images submitted to the competition for program communication purposes.

6.2 The top 50 selected photographs will be printed in large format and displayed at the "Journalism Moments 2022" photo exhibition.

6.3 Award winners will be honored at the "Journalistic Moment 2022" Photo Awards Ceremony and receive cash prizes (subject to personal income tax obligations as per legal regulations), award certificates, and trophies (or commemorative plaques) from the Organizing Committee.

7. Judging Panel

The judging panel for the "Journalistic Moment 2022" photo contest will evaluate entries according to the rules and regulations of the Organizing Committee.

The judging panel consists of reputable journalists and experts in photojournalism, appointed by the Organizing Committee before the judging period.

8. Prize structure

- 01 Press Moment Award 2022: 50,000,000 VND in cash

- 01 Gold Prize for each category: 30,000,000 VND in cash

- 01 Silver Prize for each category: 20,000,000 VND in cash

- 01 Bronze Prize for each category: 15,000,000 VND in cash

- Top 50 winners of the 2022 Press Moments Award (the remaining 40 authors who did not win any of the main awards will receive a cash prize of 2,000,000 VND).

Total prize value: 325,000,000 VND in cash.

9. Photo submission period: The organizing committee will accept entries from June 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023 via email: khoanhkhacbaochi.nbcl@gmail.com.

III. ANNOUNCEMENT AND AWARD CEREMONY

1. The "Journalistic Moment 2022" photo award will be presented at the end of 2023 as part of the 2023 Journalism Gala program. The "Journalistic Moment 2023" photo award ceremony will be broadcast live on domestic television channels.

2. The results of the "Journalistic Moment 2022" photo contest will be reported on the online newspaper congluan.vn and the print publication Nha Bao va Cong Luan (Journalist and Public Opinion), and will be posted on the Nha Bao & Cong Luan fanpage.
