The unique resonance between culture, art and journalism

On December 2, following the success of the 4th Press Gala in 2022, the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper, under the direction of the Vietnam Journalists Association , organized the 5th Press Gala in 2023, at the Military Radio and Television Center, Hanoi.

The 2023 Press Gala, with its unique musical space titled "Symphony from the Heart" and the highlight being the "Journalistic Moments 2022" photo awards ceremony, will be a synergy between music and art, between culture and journalism, between appreciation and admiration… aiming to honor the impressive journalistic photographs of 2022, and to appreciate the dedication, sensitivity, and responsibility of journalists in facing difficulties and dangers.

To date, it can be confirmed that the "Journalistic Moment" photo contest organized by the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper has had five successful seasons. According to the Organizing Committee, in the future, the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper will continue to innovate in the organization and rules of the contest to aim for a more prestigious and larger-scale award.

Journalist and photographer Ho Sy Minh - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, Editor-in-Chief of Photography and Life Magazine, commented: "Photojournalism always plays an important role, truthfully and clearly depicting current events and 'hot spots' across the country. Photojournalism is considered a very important form of journalism in modern journalism."

The Newspaper & Public Opinion has organized the "Journalistic Moment" photo contest for many consecutive years. This is considered a place to honor authors with "beautiful" and "excellent" works, and moreover, it plays an important role in improving the quality of photos for newsrooms, motivating photojournalists to continue dedicating themselves to creating high-quality, humane works for the people and the country.

Launched from June 1st, 2023 to September 30th, 2023, the "Journalistic Moments 2022" photo contest attracted a large number of participants from central and local press agencies. The organizing committee received hundreds of entries, comprising thousands of photographs reflecting diverse aspects of the country's economic, political , and social life over the past year. The richness of content and diversity of themes reflected the political, economic, social, and cultural life of the nation.

With a fair and serious approach, the judging panel selected 42 high-quality works for the photo exhibition. From this list, the judging panel further selected the best works to award prizes in the following categories: News Category: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze; Social Life Category: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze; Sports Category: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze. Dividing the awards into categories is one of the new features of this year's awards ceremony.

The "Press Moments 2022" photo award ceremony will be broadcast live on Vietnam National Defense Television channel, and rebroadcast on Channel H2 of Hanoi Radio and Television at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023.
