Another university in Ho Chi Minh City is allowed to train in maxillofacial surgery

A university in Ho Chi Minh City has just been officially permitted by the Ministry of Education and Training to enroll and train in dentistry in 2025.

The Ministry of Education and Training signed a decision on May 27 allowing Gia Dinh University to train in dentistry at university level.

Accordingly, Gia Dinh University determines enrollment targets, enrolls students, organizes and manages training, and grants degrees according to current regulations. At the same time, it evaluates the quality and accredits the training program according to the provisions of the Law on HigherEducation (amended and supplemented).

Gia Dinh University is allowed to enroll and train in maxillofacial surgery from 2025.

Master Trinh Huu Chung, Vice Principal of Gia Dinh University, said: "In addition to the newly licensed dental and maxillofacial major, this year the school also plans to open two new majors: rehabilitation engineering and university-level nursing to contribute to supplementing high-quality medical human resources for Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country."

According to Mr. Chung, the curriculum of the health sector at the school is designed in an open direction, updated with new technology. Students will learn theory combined with practice on virtual patient model systems, remote monitoring devices, electronic health data platforms, etc.

The training period for the dental and maxillofacial major at Gia Dinh University is 6 years with tuition fee of 170 million VND/year. The quota for this major this year is 50.

It is known that in 2025, Gia Dinh University will recruit 2,854 students for 54 majors/specializations with 3 methods including considering academic records, considering the capacity assessment test scores of Ho Chi Minh City National University and considering the high school graduation exam scores.

In particular, the entrance threshold for the dental industry is for candidates with good grades in grade 12 or higher or with a high school graduation score of 8 points or higher.

Currently, nationwide, there are the following universities training in maxillofacial surgery: Hanoi Medical University, University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Hanoi National University), Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Health Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Hue University), Hanoi University of Business and Technology, Vo Truong Toan University, Phenikaa University, Tra Vinh University, Duy Tan University, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hong Bang International University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Phan Chau Trinh University, Van Lang University, Gia Dinh University.
