69-year-old contestant shocks Miss Universe

On January 10, Missosology reported that 69-year-old Jocelyn Cubales has registered to compete in Miss Universe Philippines 2024. Coming to this beauty arena, the oldest preliminary contestant wants to inspire and motivate women of all ages to conquer their dreams.

The comments section recorded many surprised emotions, along with a series of conflicting opinions. The majority of netizens did not support the U70 woman participating in this playground.

Someone wrote: "Agreed that youth may not be measured by age, but Jocelyn should give the opportunity to others. She is not suitable for this contest."

"She probably just entered the contest for fun", "I'm not sure Jocelyn can pass the preliminary round"... are comments from the audience.

On the other hand, many people criticized Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip - the owner of Miss Universe - for changing the criteria, allowing women of all ages, whether married or having children, transgender people, to participate. This led to disruption in national competitions. The audience commented that older women like Jocelyn should participate in their own playground.

In 2017, at the age of 63, Jocelyn competed in Mrs. Mother of the Universe while her competitors were only 25 to 45 years old.
