(QBĐT) - Having completed two compulsory subjects (Literature and Mathematics) of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year (June 4), on June 5, 777 candidates from junior high schools across the province continued to participate in the 10th grade entrance exam for Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted. Determining that this is an important exam with a fairly high "competition" rate, most candidates have prepared carefully and are confident in their choice.

At the two exam locations, Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted and Dong Hoi High School, candidates arrived very early. On the stone benches and tree roots of the schools, candidates gathered to discuss with each other the knowledge they had learned. Some students found a quiet corner to review their lessons, while others checked their exam cards, pens, rulers, etc. to prepare everything they needed for the exam room.
Before the exam, many parents encouraged their children to be calm and confident to do well on the test. Security forces at the exam site and youth volunteers were always attentive and ready to help candidates when needed. All of this seemed to give strength and encouragement to candidates from different regions in the province.
The entrance exam to Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted took place in cool weather conditions, making it less difficult for both candidates and their parents. Many parents, especially those in districts and towns, did not leave the exam site during the entire time their children were taking the exam. While candidates were trying to put all their energy and mind into doing the exam with the hope of achieving the best results, most parents were even more worried.

Ms. Vo Thi Hoang Thanh in Duc Ninh commune (Dong Hoi city) whose child is taking the Geography entrance exam expressed: Seeing their child studying hard, staying up late and waking up early, parents are very worried. Both worried about their child's health and afraid that their child will be sad if they do not pass the exam to get into the specialized school as desired, the family always creates a comfortable mentality for their child, encourages and motivates them to help reduce the pressure of exams.
"Although I was very nervous, I always tried to act normal so that my child would feel comfortable and confident about himself. Today, I took my child to the exam site very early to avoid traffic jams and stayed at the school gate to wait for him to finish the exam. What makes us parents feel warm is that there are functional forces supporting in all aspects, security and order are guaranteed...", Ms. Vo Thi Hoang Thanh expressed.
Quickly wiping away the sweat running down his face, Mr. Tran Xuan Hieu, in Hoan Lao town (Bo Trach), whose child is taking the Physics entrance exam, confided: Thinking that his child is studying at a "village" school (Hoan Trach Secondary School) and does not have good learning conditions like his friends in the city, he was quite worried when his child decided to take the exam to the school with the best educational quality in the province. However, believing in his child's ability and wanting him to have the opportunity to try and experience, the family supports and accompanies him in his studies and exams.

“With the desire to become a student of the school named after General Vo Nguyen Giap, my child has worked very hard in his studies. In addition to the curriculum in class, he has searched for materials from many different sources and diligently studied. I am also very satisfied with the logistics at the exam site. The organization of the entrance exam seriously and strictly will hopefully bring fairness to the candidates,” Mr. Hieu added.
Many parents from localities such as Tuyen Hoa, Le Thuy, Quang Trach, etc. expressed that they had never thought of sending their children to the city to study because of the difficulty of transportation and their children were not old enough to be independent, although their children always had good academic results in middle school. However, when they learned that the school had a dormitory that met the boarding needs of students from far away and witnessed their children's efforts in studying, they felt secure and created all conditions for their children to enter the exam with the best mindset.
With the dream of becoming a student of Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted, some students have had a study plan since entering middle school. Many students have spent time studying specialized subjects according to their strengths and wishes.

To prepare for this exam, Tran Ngoc My Trang (Bac Ly Secondary School No. 1, Dong Hoi City) has tried very hard in the past school years. In addition to spending a lot of time studying, she also participated in exams and actively self-studied. After completing 2 exams, she did not dare to believe that she had the best score, but she was satisfied because she tried her best.
For English (general), most candidates confirmed that the test was not difficult but was quite long compared to the time allotted. For English (specialized), some candidates said that the test was difficult so they did not complete all the content of the test.
Le Thao Nhi (Quach Xuan Ky Secondary School, Bo Trach) shared: Becoming a student of Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted is my goal and motivation for me to try my best over the past years. In this exam, I did not do my best in the specialized subject (English) because the test was quite difficult. However, no matter what the result is, I and many other friends will be satisfied because we tried our best. I consider it an experience, an opportunity to learn in order to continue to improve myself on the upcoming learning journey.

Some students majoring in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, etc. commented that the exam questions were within their ability, suggestive to promote creativity, real abilities of the students, and close to the reviewed content.
According to our records, most of the candidates were very happy after completing the exam. At exactly 5:00 p.m. on June 5, when the school bell rang, it was also the end of the specialized exam time for candidates taking the entrance exam to grade 10 at Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted.
Leaving the exam room, some students expressed their joy at being admitted, while others quietly wiped away their tears in regret. The hugs and comfort from their loved ones to share their joys and sorrows were beautiful images that ended a memorable exam season. Their joy and sadness will be beautiful memories, valuable lessons that will help them grow up on their future learning and training journey.
