Pepper prices today, March 9, 2025, in the domestic market are mostly stable in key localities, trading from 157,000 - 162,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 159,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (157,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (161,500 VND/kg); Dak Nong (162,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (159,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (159,000 VND/kg).
Thus, today's pepper price increased slightly by 500 VND/kg in Dak Nong , while remaining stable in other key growing areas. The highest pepper price is at 162,000 VND/kg.
According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in February, Vietnam imported 2,929 tons of pepper, of which black pepper reached 1,716 tons and white pepper reached 1,213 tons, with a total import turnover of 15.9 million USD. Compared to the previous month, the import volume increased by 61.2%.
Cumulatively from January 1 to February 28, 2025, Vietnam imported 4,746 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 2,469 tons, white pepper reached 2,277 tons, with a total import turnover of 26.8 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2024, the import volume increased by 11.4%, and the turnover increased by 74.1%.
In the first two months of the year, Indonesia continued to be the largest pepper supplier to Vietnam with a volume of 2,730 tons, a sharp increase of 5.9 times (493.5%) over the same period in 2024 and accounting for 57.5% of the total supply.
Meanwhile, imports from Brazil and Cambodia decreased by 55.2% and 46%, reaching 1,302 tons and 221 tons, respectively.
In the world market, at the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,376 USD/ton; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 6,850 USD/ton; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 9,800 USD/ton.
Muntok white pepper price is 10,242 USD/ton; ASTA Malaysian white pepper price is at 12,300 USD/ton.
Vietnam black pepper price is trading at 7,000 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 7,200 USD/ton; white pepper price at 10,000 USD/ton. The International Pepper Community increased 100 USD/ton for export pepper prices of Vietnam and Malaysia in the last session of the week.
IPC commented that the pepper market this week had mixed developments, with only domestic white pepper in Vietnam recording a decrease. Both domestic and international Indian pepper prices were stable, while domestic and international Indonesian pepper prices tended to increase this week due to fewer transactions.
At the recent international conference on Vietnam's pepper and spice industry 2025, experts said that erratic weather has affected crops in many countries with large pepper growing areas such as Brazil, India, and China.
Therefore, global production is estimated to continue to decline in 2025, down to 434 thousand tons, while the global inventory ratio tends to fall to a new low. Pepper prices this year may continue to increase.
