'Black Swan' Natalie Portman hasn't worn leather in 20 years

The "Black Swan" star pursues a vegan fashion style and has her own custom-made eco-friendly dresses.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter on May 10, Natalie Portman said that climate change has influenced her to change her lifestyle. The star has avoided fabrics and textiles made from animals, and only buys simple clothes made from environmentally friendly materials.

"I haven't bought or used any leather, fur or animal products in 20 years. I care about vintage clothes and only buy them when absolutely necessary, and of course I repair damaged items," Portman said.

The Black Swan star became a vegan after reading Safran Foer's book Eating Animals, which explores how animals are raised, slaughtered, and processed before they become food. Portman followed a vegan diet that allowed dairy and animal products while pregnant, then returned to veganism.

Since then, she has embraced vegan fashion and has custom-made dresses to suit her lifestyle. "Being vegan is a choice that is good for the environment and animals," Portman stressed.

Besides fashion, celebrities often use electric cars.

Revealing on UK's Capital FM , Portman said that before filming the kissing scene with her for the movie Thor: Love and Thunder , Chris Hemsworth did not eat meat because he knew she was a vegan.

“He was very considerate. The day we filmed the kissing scene, Chris didn't eat meat in the morning because he knew I was a vegetarian,” the Australian actress shared.

The Black Swan actress said that she never asked Hemsworth to stop eating meat to film a kissing scene with her. Therefore, the actor's actions surprised her.
