Photographer Van Ngoc Nhuan with his works being introduced

Holding this publication in his hands, photographer Van Ngoc Nhuan was moved when looking back at the works he and his colleagues had taken about Hau Giang . Showing us the photo of Nga Bay floating market, he said that the photo was taken 45 years ago, when the market was bustling and crowded, characterized by rowing boats and women wearing conical hats rowing boats on the bustling river. Or the photo that photographer Van Ngoc Nhuan took of the Phung Hiep Cultural Boat serving propaganda on Nga Bay canal 40 years ago, capturing the scene of the Mobile Information Team serving on the irrigation canal construction project.
on April 30, 1980…

“Looking at the picture, so many memories of Hau Giang back then came flooding back to me, even more meaningful at a time when Can Tho City had just been merged with a boundary almost similar to Hau Giang province in the past,” said artist Van Ngoc Nhuan.

This collection can be said to be the "quintessence of the quintessence" of literature and art about the land and people of Hau Giang, with the participation of many generations of artists. Readers will re-read the literary works "Say more, brother!..." by Nguyen Van Luu, "My teacher" by Dang Hong... In the field of songs, those are the melodies that are memorable and loving when heard with "Tam Vu" by Dac Nhan - Quoc Huong, "Tieng ho song Hau" by Minh Luan, "Dan flute Hau Giang" by Tran Long An, "Tinh ma Hau Giang" by Phan Huynh Dieu, "Chiec ao ba ba" by Tran Thien Thanh, "Thiet tha mien Hau Giang" by Vu Kim Sa... Similarly, with photography, fine arts, folk literature, vọng cổ, theater... many works have gone deep into the hearts of the public and have been selected and introduced, contributing to making the image of Hau Giang past and present vivid.

This collection is made as a tribute to the homeland of Hau Giang, to the artists who have embellished this land. As the lyrics of the song "Tieng ho song Hau" by musician Minh Luan: "Drinking a sip of clear water, I remember Hau River. Eating this bowl of rice, I remember Can Tho land". According to the Editorial Board, the old Hau Giang province (including Can Tho city, Hau Giang province, Soc Trang province before the merger; similar to the new Can Tho city today) has a team of experienced artists, full of enthusiasm, passionate about creativity. Through many generations, artists have composed and produced many valuable works, vividly reflecting the beauty of Hau Giang land and people.

“From the simple, authentic lines of poetry from the early days of national reunification to the literary works imbued with contemplation of life; from the black and white photos marking the subsidy period to images of labor and production emulation movements; from the sweet melodies of traditional music to the lyrical, profound melodies of songs filled with love for the homeland… All blend together to form a vivid, authentic and emotional picture of Hau Giang land over the past half century,” the Editorial Board shared.

Hau Giang after 50 years, is now Can Tho city, beautiful, poetic, rich in potential, developing with the spirit of reaching out in the new era. Read, listen, watch works about Hau Giang over the past half century to be more proud of your homeland on the banks of the gentle and beloved Hau River.
