Practical career counseling activities for students

To help 12th grade students choose a career that suits their abilities, strengths and the labor needs of society, in recent times, early career orientation for students has always been a focus of Son La Specialized High School.

Teacher Pham Thi Thuan, Principal of Son La High School for the Gifted : “Every year, the school organizes career counseling activities for students in both formal and extracurricular activities. In previous years, the school organized the Son La Gifted program, usually inviting students who were admitted to universities the previous year to the school to organize programs to inspire students. This year, the school changed the method of inviting experts to provide counseling with the goal of helping students have a comprehensive and complete view and also wants parents to accompany students so that parents can understand their children's wishes and abilities.”

In the process of implementing careereducation , the Specialized High School has innovated the content and form of career education to suit the actual situation. Continuously improve the effectiveness of organizing educational, experiential and career guidance activities in the school, meeting the requirements of implementing the 2018 General Education Program. Help students identify the qualities and abilities necessary for workers, the ability to choose a career that suits their abilities and interests, conditions and circumstances to continue studying, learning a trade or participating in working life, adapting well to changes in the context of globalization and the new industrial revolution.

Student Nguyen Thi Huong Tra, Grade 11 English, Son La High School for the Gifted : “I found today's extracurricular activity very useful, as it was the first time I had the chance to meet a very prestigious speaker like Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam; observed his stage management skills, presentation skills and the knowledge and experience he brought to us, helping us to reduce some of our fears when we are about to enter university.”

Experiential and career guidance activities organized annually have helped generations of school students self-evaluate and be evaluated on their strengths, abilities, and interests related to future careers, especially in the current priority career fields.

Ms. Vu Thi Hong Mai, Group 12, Chieng Le Ward, Son La City : "I find career counseling activities, career counseling activities organized by the school very useful, helping parents and students grasp future career orientations, thereby orienting their children to a career that is both suitable for their strengths and abilities, and at the same time suitable for the needs of society".
