Tho Xuan: More than 27 hectares of spring rice have degenerated panicle heads

People in Phuc Boi village reported that the rice crop was flat.

According to the report of Tho Lap commune (Tho Xuan), in the spring crop of 2025, people in villages 1, 2, 3 Phuc Boi planted 13.16 hectares of rice varieties An Nong 1424 and KU57. Although these two rice varieties are not included in the 2025 spring crop production structure of the commune, 89 households purchased the above rice varieties from Hoan Oanh Seed Supply Agent in village 2 Phuc Boi, Tho Lap commune to plant at a rate of 1kg of seeds/sao.

At harvest time, the rice does not bloom and the rate of empty grains is high.

The sowing time is from December 20-25, 2024, solar calendar, transplanting around January 20-30, 2025 (ie December 22-28, 2024 lunar calendar), rice flowering around the end of March 2025. According to the inspection of the Commune People's Committee, currently 1 sao of rice planted with An Nong 1424 and KU57 varieties gives a yield of only about 50-80 kg/sao. Thus, with 13.16 hectares, the yield is reduced compared to the average yield of about 52.6 tons.

According to Ms. Vu Thi Lieu in Phuc Boi village, in the spring crop of 2025, her family planted 8 sao of rice, of which 2 sao of An Nong 1424 variety were almost completely lost.

After inspecting the fields, the Commune People's Committee sent an official dispatch requesting village chiefs to review and declare the low-yielding An Nong 1424 and KU 57 rice areas and requesting people to temporarily not harvest these areas to work with relevant parties.

In Thuan Minh commune, in the spring crop of 2025, people planted about 14 hectares of An Nong 1424 and KU57 rice varieties. Of which, about 13.8 hectares were planted with KU57 rice varieties and 0.25 hectares with An Nong 1424 variety. Through actual field inspection by the People's Committee of Thuan Minh commune, it was shown that the rice did not bloom and the yield was only 60 kg/sao.

Immediately after receiving feedback from the people, Thuan Minh commune worked directly with the agent and related units. On May 8, 2025, Hoan Oanh agent and the representative company of the distributor in Thanh Hoa worked with the people, but the company promised to respond by May 31, 2025.

Faced with the above situation, Tho Lap and Thuan Minh communes have sent a document requesting the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tho Xuan district and relevant agencies to inspect the actual business of supplying seeds of Hoan Oanh agent for the above two types of rice seeds to have appropriate support directions for farmers.
