Thanh Hoa launches peak period of inspection, handling of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025 and Directive No. 13/CT-TTg dated May 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights in the new situation, on May 20, Thanh Hoa Market Management Department issued a Plan for peak inspection and handling of violations throughout the province.

According to the plan, the market management force will focus on inspecting and strictly handling violations of the law related to essential consumer goods such as food, medicine, cosmetics, fertilizers, agricultural materials, gasoline, alcohol, etc.

The inspection aims to promptly detect new methods and tricks in smuggling, trade fraud and the production and trading of counterfeit goods. Special attention will be paid to key areas such as borders, sea areas, Nghi Son Economic Zone, industrial parks, supermarkets, wholesale markets and key traffic routes such as National Highway 1A, Ho Chi Minh Road, and North-South Expressway.

Market Management Teams are required to have a firm grasp of the area, identify key routes and targets to develop specific inspection plans, without overlap or omission. Inspections must comply with regulations, minimizing inconvenience to legal business organizations and individuals. Civil servants performing public duties must strictly comply with discipline and administrative order; work assignments must be monitored and made public.

The subjects of inspection are organizations and individuals in the business of goods and commercial services in the market; production establishments in the fields and industries under the management of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the fields in which the market management force is assigned authority by the Government.

In particular, the authorities will inspect business activities in the online environment, e-commerce platforms, websites, social networks such as Facebook, TikTok... showing signs of exploitation to trade in smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights, goods of unknown origin, and goods that do not ensure food safety.

Along with inspection activities, Thanh Hoa Market Management Department will coordinate propaganda and mobilize organizations and individuals not to produce and trade counterfeit, poor quality goods of unknown origin. Establishments that sign commitments but violate will be strictly handled. Propaganda forms are diverse, suitable for regional characteristics to raise awareness of the law and safe consumption culture in the community.
