Continue to hold the position of permanent vice chairman of Sacombank

After resigning from the position of General Director, Ms. Nguyen Duc Thach Diem continues to hold the position of permanent vice chairman of the board of directors of Sacombank.

This is to separate management and operations in accordance with Sacombank's operating criteria, while also creating conditions for her to focus on building development strategies and implementing many other important issues of the bank.

Ms. Diem was born in 1973 and has a PhD in Finance and Banking from the Academy of Finance. She assumed the position of General Director in 2017, when Sacombank was officially approved to implement the post-merger restructuring project.

In a statement issued this afternoon, May 22, Sacombank said that after nearly 8 years under Ms. Diem's ​​management, Sacombank has made a spectacular comeback with impressive growth in business indicators.

"Sacombank's Board of Directors highly appreciates Ms. Diem's ​​efforts as CEO for always completing her assigned tasks excellently in nearly 8 years of running Sacombank. This is the foundation for Ms. Diem to continue making important contributions to the bank's development strategy in the coming time," the announcement emphasized.

Acting General Director Nguyen Thanh Nhung is a new factor at Sacombank but he has more than 30 years of experience in key areas related to banking such as accounting, legal, credit, and currency trading.

Mr. Nhung has a bachelor's degree in economics , a bachelor's degree in law from Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, and a master's degree in finance and banking from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics. Mr. Nhung has held many important positions such as Deputy General Director of Eximbank and General Director of Vietbank.

Mr. Nhung is expected to inherit the achievements and lead Sacombank to continue to develop safely - effectively - sustainably, moving steadily on the restructuring journey, becoming the leading bank in Vietnam.

Currently, all activities of Sacombank are still taking place stably, closely following the policies and plans approved by the general meeting of shareholders.

Managing the restructuring process of Sacombank

Ms. Diem has been directly in charge of Sacombank’s restructuring process since 2017, when the bank faced many challenges after the merger with Southern Bank. During this period, Sacombank focused on handling bad debts, consolidating the system and gradually recovering its business operations.

Ms. Diem joined Sacombank in 2002, starting as an accountant. During her more than two decades at Sacombank, she has held various roles such as credit, customer service, internal control and audit, debt collection and regional operations management.

Before being appointed as general director, she held the position of deputy general director in charge of the South Central - Central Highlands region, then deputy general director in charge of debt settlement - a key area during the period when the bank began restructuring after the merger with Southern Bank.

In July 2017, Ms. Diem was appointed as General Director of Sacombank, replacing Mr. Phan Huy Khang.
