National online workshop on the draft project "Internationalization of Vietnamese culture and Vietnamization of international culture"

The workshop was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Hanoi) and connected online to provincial and municipal bridges across the country. Attending were leaders of departments, ministries, branches, central agencies; researchers, cultural experts; representatives of provinces and centrally run cities.

In his opening speech, comrade Nguyen Van Hung emphasized: Over the past years, Vietnam's advanced culture, imbued with national identity, humanity, democracy and science , and unity in diversity, has been spread to the world. Many typical values ​​have been recognized and highly appreciated by the international community, becoming prominent elements and blending into the general flow, enriching human civilization.

At the same time, Vietnam is gradually becoming an attractive destination for international cultural exchange, proactively absorbing the quintessence of human culture, embracing development opportunities, overcoming challenges to preserve identity, and enriching national culture. These two processes go hand in hand, actively complementing each other to create soft power, contributing to maintaining a peaceful environment, firmly protecting the Fatherland and positioning Vietnam in the international arena.

In the spirit of Resolution 59 of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation, implementing the direction of the Politburo and the Government Party Committee, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has developed the Project "Internationalization of Vietnamese culture and Vietnamization of international culture" to affirm and promote the role and contribution of the internationalization of Vietnamese culture and Vietnamization of international culture. The development and implementation of the Project has strategic significance in enhancing the position of Vietnamese culture in the international arena; at the same time, receiving and selecting the quintessence of human culture, contributing to enriching the national cultural identity in the process of deep international integration.

The draft Project consists of 5 parts: Basis for project development; context, opportunities and challenges; viewpoints, goals and tasks of internationalizing Vietnamese culture and Vietnamizing international culture until 2035, vision to 2045; solutions; implementation organization.

At the workshop, delegates discussed the contents of the draft Project. They focused on the orientation for the development of Vietnamese culture and arts in the new era of the nation; the role of culture, cultural and creative industries as a driving force for the country's sustainable development; the Party's policies and guidelines and some orientations on the development of the internationalization of Vietnamese culture and the Vietnamization of international culture; the role of cultural diplomacy in the process of internationalization of Vietnamese culture and the Vietnamization of international culture; initiatives and solutions for the application of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the process of developing Vietnamese culture to reach the international level.

Some opinions suggested that the drafting committee of the Project clarify the content of internationalization of Vietnamese culture, Vietnamization of international culture; have a balance in evaluating results, achievements as well as limitations in implementing this content in the past; between foreign affairs and cultural factors... Representatives of provinces and cities shared experiences in promoting international cultural integration in the industry and localities and proposed ideas and solutions to achieve higher efficiency in this field in the coming time.

In his concluding remarks, Minister Nguyen Van Hung highly appreciated the enthusiastic, profound and highly practical opinions from delegates, experts and scientists at home and abroad. This will be a valuable source of information for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue to perfect the draft Project “Internationalization of Vietnamese culture and Vietnamization of international culture”, and at the same time concretize it into practical action programs, suitable to the requirements of national development in the new period.

The Minister emphasized: To effectively implement the Project after being approved by the Politburo, it is necessary to have the synchronous participation of the entire political system, close coordination between levels and sectors, especially the proactiveness and creativity of localities, units, cultural and artistic organizations and intellectuals and artists. Units under the Ministry continue to study and fully absorb the opinions at the workshop, thereby advising on the development of a roadmap and solutions to implement the Project synchronously, effectively and closely following reality. One of the important things is to firmly preserve the quintessence of Vietnamese culture and introduce it to international friends. The Project will contribute to bringing Vietnamese culture further, affirming the country's position in the international arena, and at the same time spreading the cultural values ​​of humanity into the harmonious and sustainable Vietnamese cultural life.
