Minister Nguyen Van Hung chaired a national workshop to discuss solutions to promote international cultural integration.

The workshop took place directly at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ( Hanoi ) and online to connecting points in provinces and cities across the country.

Attending the workshop were Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh, representatives of leaders of Central and local departments, ministries, branches, agencies, researchers and cultural experts.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung stated that, implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, and the special attention of Party and State leaders to the cultural field, during this term, the phrase culture has been concretized and built into action programs by leaders of Party committees at all levels, Departments, and Ministries.

Highlights include the National Cultural Conference to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on the cultural field; the Workshop "80 years of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture - Origin and development motivation"; Cultural Workshops on institutions, policies and resources for cultural development... and recently, the National Assembly issued a Resolution approving the investment policy of the National Target Program on cultural development for the period 2025 - 2035.

Continuing to promote the work of perfecting institutions, in this term, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned to preside over the development and the National Assembly passed 4 laws and 1 resolution, the Government issued many important decrees creating opportunities for cultural development.

Overall, it can be said that thanks to the attention of the Party, the State, and the consensus of the people, during this period, culture has developed strongly, with many fields and activities organized rich in content and diverse in form, contributing to the enrichment and promotion of the values ​​of truth, goodness, and beauty and spreading the soft power of Vietnamese culture.

In addition to policy creation, from the perspective of state management, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned by the Politburo to work with relevant agencies to advise on the drafting of documents for the 14th National Party Congress.

"The good news is that in this draft document, culture and people have been included in a section with very specific contents. From there, we have a clear basis to thoroughly understand and implement when the Congress approves with many new arguments and approaches," the Minister stated.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned by the Politburo to coordinate with relevant agencies to research and submit a project on promoting international cultural integration. This is an honor but also a very difficult task.

The workshop was broadcast live from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to localities across the country.

According to the Minister, to build a Project worthy of submitting to the Politburo, as a basis for organizing the implementation and concretization of Resolution 59-NQ/TW on "International integration in the new situation" is not a simple matter. Therefore, in the past time, with careful steps and actions, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has assigned the units of the Ministry to actively research, develop outlines, and organize workshops at all levels to gather comments to help the Ministry develop the Project.

Suggesting some issues related to the Project, the Minister hopes to receive many contributions from management agencies, experts, scientists, and people interested in culture to clarify the elements and contents of issues related to the Project, the manifestations, forms of expression, approaches to propose appropriate solutions regarding policies, resources, human resources, etc.

In her report at the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of the Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that in today's era, culture increasingly affirms its role as a bridge between nations, enhancing mutual understanding, being the driving force of sustainable development, enhancing national prestige, creating a premise to promote development cooperation.

Cultural power is likened to "soft power" that many countries have successfully used to spread their image to the world, actively contributing to the struggle for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress in the world.

Vietnam is a country with a long-standing culture and civilization, with a tradition of thousands of years. That culture has its own system of values ​​and identity, not assimilated by any foreign invaders. That system of values ​​and identity, together with the selective absorption of the quintessence of world culture, has created Vietnam's soft power.

Vietnam's cultural soft power is an important element that constitutes the nation's overall strength and enhances national competitiveness in the global value chain.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of the Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented the opening report at the Workshop.

On the basis of the great achievements of the 80-year revolution of building and defending the Fatherland and nearly 40 years of renovation, our country has never had such "foundation, potential, position and international prestige" as today. Facing a historical moment, when the world is undergoing epochal changes, the determination and aspiration of the entire Party and the entire nation to rise up has never been as strong as it is today in order to successfully implement the 100-year strategic goals under the Party's leadership and the 100th anniversary of the country's founding, making our country a developed country with a socialist orientation .

Therefore, to confidently enter the era of national growth, the requirement for our entire Party and people is to raise the level and expand "contributions to peace, cooperation, development and progress of humanity", thereby rising up and affirming that Vietnam "has an important position and role in world politics, the global economy and human civilization".

At the workshop, delegates focused on speaking, discussing, and clarifying issues related to the project on promoting international cultural integration, especially the project's name and related contents.

The presentations also proposed many specific initiatives to realize the goal of promoting Vietnamese culture and absorbing the quintessence of international culture, such as: developing the cultural industry and digital culture; building a creative team and foreign cultural officers; supporting businesses and artists to participate in the global cultural value chain; increasing investment and mobilizing social resources; developing Vietnamese cultural centers abroad; and promoting propaganda, raising awareness of the strategic role of culture in sustainable development and enhancing national soft power.

Concluding the workshop, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung thanked the valuable and accurate contributions of experts and scientists to the project on promoting international cultural integration. The opinions all aimed at the greatest desire of how to develop Vietnamese culture to truly become a soft power, a bridge of friendship with international friends, and in return, absorb the quintessence of world culture to enrich Vietnamese culture.

The workshop also agreed that in recent years, the Party and State have paid special attention to the cultural field, thus spreading the role, position and mission of culture, and increasing awareness of culture; people are excited, proud and confident in implementing cultural policies, and are also active subjects in creating culture.

Besides, in the process of building Vietnamese culture, we are determined to build an advanced culture, imbued with national identity, with humanistic, democratic and scientific characteristics, unity in diversity of Vietnam has been spread to the world. In which many typical values ​​are recognized and highly appreciated by the international community, becoming prominent elements and blending into the common flow, enriching the civilization of humanity.

At the same time, along with the process of deep international integration and cooperation, Vietnam is gradually becoming an attractive destination for international cultural exchange, proactively absorbing the quintessence of human culture, embracing development opportunities, overcoming challenges to preserve identity, enriching national culture and bringing national culture to new heights.

The Minister suggested that management agencies, scientists, experts, and those interested in the cultural field will jointly research and propose comprehensive and phased solutions on mechanisms, policies, and resources to realize the goal of international cultural integration, shifting from "meeting and exchanging" to "genuine cooperation". With high political determination and consensus of the whole society, Vietnamese culture will continue to reach new heights, contributing to enhancing the country's position in the international arena in the new era./.
