To bring OCOP products closer to the people of the capital

On the morning of May 22, at Dong Da District Cultural Park, Hanoi City, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, the City's New Rural Area Coordination Office in coordination with the Dong Da District People's Committee organized a week of consulting, introducing and promoting the consumption of products: OCOP, craft villages, safe agricultural products and food in 2025.

This is one of the practical activities to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025) and celebrate major national holidays in 2025.

According to the Hanoi New Rural Area Coordination Office, from 2019 to now, Hanoi has evaluated and classified 3,317 OCOP products (accounting for 21.3% of the country), including 6 5-star products, 22 potential 5-star products, 1,571 4-star products and 1,718 3-star products. Hanoi is also the leading locality in the country in terms of the number of OCOP products.

Organizing this weekly event aims to help OCOP entities in Hanoi and other provinces and cities across the country to exchange, connect, promote brands, and promote trade; besides, it aims to share lessons and experiences, continuously improve productivity, product quality, and capacity of OCOP entities, especially consumers, to better understand the products and use them.

According to Ngo Van Ngon, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Office for New Rural Development, the city has a large agricultural development space, the largest agricultural product scale in the country, the land area for agricultural production activities is more than 197,000 hectares, one of the top localities in the country. Hanoi currently has 1,336 agricultural cooperatives in operation; 1,574 farms; 172 production and consumption chains; with more than 164 high-tech application models, over 14,000 agricultural, forestry and fishery products have been granted traceability codes (QR Code).

In addition, Hanoi currently has more than 1,350 craft villages, accounting for 40% of the country's craft villages. In particular, in 2025, Hanoi was recognized by the World Craft Council for two craft villages: Van Phuc Silk Weaving - Ha Dong, Bat Trang Ceramics as official members of the World Craft Creative City. These are the first two craft villages in Vietnam to be recognized by the World Craft Council.

Director of Tinh Hoa Lang Huong Viet Company Limited, Pham Thi Dong said, we bring incense products to the fair and I see this as an opportunity for the facility to promote the essence of our products to customers near and far. Currently, our facility has about 20 workers of different ages, taking advantage of the free time to produce to increase income. My facility has participated in many fairs in the city as well as neighboring provinces and we have received a lot of support from functional departments in production, design and promotion of products.

According to her, in order for OCOP products to be widely accepted by people at home and abroad, each entity needs to diversify its designs and products; especially, it is necessary to apply science and technology, digital transformation to reduce production costs, improve quality and find markets so that OCOP products will be closer to consumers.

People in the capital, as well as other localities, are in great need of good quality products, especially those certified by competent authorities. Currently, there are many fake and poor quality products on the market, causing confusion for people, so organizing fairs and product weeks like this is practical and should be organized regularly...

The week has the participation of entities in many provinces and cities.

This week will be held for 5 days, from May 21, 2025 to May 25, 2025 with 50 booths and more than 500 OCOP products, which are regional specialties of Hanoi and 20 provinces and cities nationwide. Hanoi alone will have 20 booths with more than 100 OCOP products participating.
