During this flood, the flood peak on small rivers, upstream rivers is likely to reach alert level 1 and above alert level 1. The water level downstream of Thao River, Lo River is below alert level 1.
There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas of the North, from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh .

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the night of May 22-23, in the Northern region, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 60-120mm, locally over 180mm.
In the evening and night of May 23, in the North Central region, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 20-50mm, locally over 80mm.
Warning of risk of heavy localized rain (>100mm/3 hours).
In addition, in the evening and night of May 22, Ninh Thuan-Binh Thuan, Central Highlands and the South will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 20-40mm, locally over 70mm.

The Meteorological Agency warned that heavy rain in the Northern region is likely to last until around May 24 with rainfall ranging from 15-30mm, some places over 70mm; from the night of May 24, heavy rain in the Northern region will gradually decrease. During the day and night of May 24, the North Central region will have moderate to heavy rain, locally very heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 20-50mm, some places over 80mm.
During thunderstorms, watch out for tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds.
Meteorological experts also noted that heavy rains are likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes. People need to monitor the weather regularly to proactively take preventive measures and respond promptly.
