What is noteworthy about the weather in the three regions during the April 30 and May 1 holidays?

The weather across the country will be volatile during the holidays.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, during the holiday from April 29 to May 4, the weather in the regions tends to be as follows:

Northern region: Little rain, temperature increases again; hot weather may appear around May 3-4.

Central region: Heat continues but not as severe as mid-April.

Southern region: Widespread heat continues with temperatures ranging from 34–37°C.

From April 17, mountainous areas from Nghe An to Quang Ngai provinces began to experience widespread heat waves, with the highest temperatures commonly ranging from 35–37°C, with some places above 37°C.

From April 18, the heat wave will spread to the Central region, the Northern Delta and the Northern Midlands (including the capital Hanoi) and the Southern region. The highest temperatures during the day are forecasted as follows: Northern region (including Hanoi): 35–37°C, some places above 38°C; Central region: 36–39°C, some places above 39°C; Southern region: 35–37°C.

This heat wave in the North and Central regions is likely to last until April 23, while the South is likely to continue experiencing heat for many more days.

From around April 23 to 28, due to the influence of weak cold air, the North is likely to experience showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures dropping slightly. In the Central region, the heat will narrow down, only occurring locally.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, one thing to note is that during the transitional season, extreme weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind can occur, especially in the late afternoon.

At the same time, widespread heat in the coming days can have adverse effects on people's health, increase the risk of explosions, forest fires and affect production and daily life. People need to regularly monitor weather forecasts to proactively prevent and ensure safety for production, daily life and tourism activities during the holidays.

To ensure that weather information is provided promptly, accurately and fully to serve people, tourism activities, travel as well as event organization during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the Department of Hydrometeorology has directed the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting to coordinate with relevant units to develop a detailed plan for weather forecasting and warning during the period from April 15 to May 5, 2025.

According to this plan, from April 20, the Center will increase the frequency of issuing forecast bulletins, closely monitor and provide early warnings of dangerous weather phenomena such as heavy rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds at sea, hail, etc. to help people, local authorities and related units proactively prevent and minimize damage.

In particular, forecasting work will focus on major event areas across the country, ensuring information is continuously updated, close to reality, effectively serving the organization and ensuring safety for outdoor activities during the holidays.
