Deo Ngang tunnel connecting Quang Tri and Ha Tinh provinces opened

Engineers and workers overcame all difficulties to complete the task, 1 month ahead of schedule. The opening of the Deo Ngang technical tunnel marks an important milestone for its operation by the end of 2025.

On July 16, the Deo Ngang tunnel connecting Quang Tri and Ha Tinh provinces officially had the construction units excavate the last blocks of earth and rock to clear the tunnel.

Construction workers are scooping up the last blocks of earth and rock to clear the Deo Ngang tunnel.

Deo Ngang Tunnel Expansion is part of the Project to upgrade and expand a number of bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1. Deo Ngang Tunnel Expansion is 650m long, of which the tunnel body is 555m long, 10.5m wide with 2 lanes, designed speed of 80km/h. Deo Ngang Tunnel crosses the Hoanh Son mountain range, starting point in Hoanh Son ward, Ha Tinh province (Ky Nam ward, old Ky Anh town) and ending point in Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province (Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, old Quang Binh province).

Deo Ngang Tunnel connecting Quang Tri and Ha Tinh provinces has been approved.

Deo Ngang Tunnel has a total contract value of 219 billion VND, and was started on January 13, 2025. Along with the construction of the main tunnel, the contractor is synchronously implementing the items of approach roads, lighting systems, and fire prevention and fighting. Over the past time, engineers and workers have overcome all difficulties to complete the task, 1 month ahead of schedule compared to the requirements.
