Unification rises

The Party Secretary and head of Thong Nhat village (in black shirt) is disseminating information to the people about the criteria to be implemented in building new rural areas.

Thong Nhat village, Doan Ket commune, has 69 households and over 300 inhabitants. Taking advantage of its large area of forest land, in recent years, the village Party branch has focused on guiding and encouraging people to develop a sustainable forest-based economy .

Mr. Hoang Van Tuan, Party Secretary and Head of Thong Nhat village, said: The Party branch directed the village's Front Committee to closely coordinate with mass organizations to promote propaganda and mobilize people to effectively exploit the strengths of forest land for reforestation; at the same time, creating conditions for people to participate in training courses on techniques for planting and caring for forest trees and vocational training courses organized by the commune in coordination with specialized agencies.

Mr. Ha Van Huu, a villager, said: "Previously, my family was classified as a poor household, with our economy mainly dependent on small-scale agricultural production. In 2016, thanks to the guidance and support from the village's Front Committee, my family renovated our hillside land to plant cinnamon. Currently, my family owns over 2 hectares of cinnamon. In 2025, we harvested 1 hectare of cinnamon, bringing in over 100 million VND in income. We plan to harvest another 1 hectare in the near future. Thanks to cinnamon cultivation, my family has gained an additional source of income, and by the end of 2025, we will have escaped poverty."

Not only Mr. Huu's family, but also other households in the village have proactively invested in reforesting barren hills with various tree species such as cinnamon, acacia, and pine. According to statistics, the entire village currently has over 300 hectares of planted forest, mainly cinnamon trees. This is also the village with the largest area of cinnamon trees in Doan Ket commune. The reforestation movement has spread throughout the village, with 100% of households planting trees; some households plant 2 to 3 hectares, while others plant 6 to 7 hectares. Thanks to the development of the hill and forest economy, many households have gained an additional income of 30-60 million VND per year, with some households earning 80-100 million VND per year.

At the same time, the village Party branch actively propagated the purpose and significance of the New Rural Development movement so that people understood and proactively participated through practical actions. Accordingly, in the period 2021-2025, the Party branch and the village Front Committee mobilized people to donate over 1,460 m2 of land, contribute more than 530 million VND and over 350 days of labor to build rural roads, a village cultural house, irrigation canals, and pedestrian bridges... To date, these projects have been completed and put into use, serving the daily lives of the villagers.

As one of the exemplary Party members leading the way in building new rural areas in the village, Mr. Nong Van Doc said: "Promoting the pioneering and exemplary role of Party members, from 2021 to the present, my family has donated land twice, totaling nearly 400 square meters, to open inter-village roads and build bridges for the people."

Mr. Nguyen Nhu Binh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Doan Ket commune, said: "In recent times, the 'Skilled People's Mobilization' emulation movement in Thong Nhat village has been implemented comprehensively, extensively, and effectively. The movement has created high consensus among the people, especially in implementing the criteria for New Rural Development and economic development. As a result, the material and spiritual lives of the people in the village have continuously improved, making a positive contribution to the overall development of the locality."

With the unity and efforts of the people, the appearance of Thong Nhat village is increasingly improving, and the lives of the people have been significantly enhanced. By the end of 2025, the village will have no more poor households; the average per capita income will reach 35 million VND/person/year, an increase of about 10 million VND compared to 2020. With these positive results, in September 2025, Thong Nhat village was honored to receive a commendation from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in the "Skilled People's Mobilization" emulation movement during the 2021-2025 period.
